Just passing it along. We've apparently offered the basketball job to the Mississippi state head coach. I don't know much about him as a coach. But I like the system he runs and he's real good people. Him coming also brings my nephew with him if he accepts.

Haven’t watched much in the way of Mississippi State or $EC bball this year but if true; I hope this is a great hire. We need to maximize what little we have left from the E8 and F4 runs to stay relevant

Thanks for great insights and info as ususal. I notice Miss St is doing really great right now, making it hard to imagine the HC would leave (or announce an exit) at this juncture...

...if it is wrong to assume this behind the scenes stuff is only for next season's possibility, please advise. I feel like that must be the case and this could be a dumb question, but really am not sure.

I hope that's true. He's a proven coach at multiple levels, winning everywhere he goes from JUCO to high major. I remember his New Mexico St team a few years ago that made some noise. He's been competitive in the SEC the last couple of years. I'd be psyched to have an established, proven guy like this.

He's good. I just don't know that the ACC has more allure or an easier path than the SEC right now. Seems kind of like a lateral move. What I would love is if he wants the job because he recognizes the untapped Florida talent Miami has been missing out on for years.

Jans would be a great option. An amazing hire if it goes thru. He's done a great job everywhere he's been. Proven winner. Very intriguing if true, but not sure how likely considering he just signed a contract extension with Miss St. Just maybe, Miami is throwing the bag at him.

By the way, any word if Nwoko will be coming with him as well?

He's actually contributing for them. He had 18 and 11 vs Pitt earlier in the season. I guess there was something there after all.

Only input I have on this is exactly what I shared. I know he's talked with his current players and his incoming recruits about us offering the job & him seriously considering it. Beyond that I got no clue. Just sharing what I know.

Just my guess but I'd imagine it's for next season.

Just based on a no context quick wikipedia search, looks good.

I remember him well when he was an assistant to Gregg Marshall and I recall his incident at Bowling Green which cost him his job. After this I lost track. I am glad he rebounded his career at NMSU and MSU. He has won everywhere so he would be a stellar hire.

/and "scr-w you!" to the BGSU student who captured the video of him at a bar which got him fired.
