Jethro Franklin

He left the NFL for USC but jumped back on that train when it was too late. IIRC, Pete Carroll resigned shortly after Jethro's return. Perhaps coach Kiffin wanted to bring in his own D line guy.

Here's what I see from that resume: He was rehired TWICE by good head coaches (Al Golden and Pete Carroll).

1. Why didn't Pete take him to the NFL?

2. Why did he go to Temple from USC?

There is just some weirdness about it. I don't really know I am just curious.

#2 was answered above. Kiffin brought his D line guy from Tennessee.

#1 - Cant say. I do know that Jethro played briefly with the Seahawks and wasnt happy with the way things ended as a player. I dont know if he was offered and refused the job or if Pete Carroll wanted to go another direction. But keep in mind, Pete Carroll rehired Jethro in 99, so I dont think there is anything ground breaking about this angle.

2. No it wasn't. There are several other programs other than Temple. That only explains why he was not at USC. I am curious why a guy with NFL DL experience and USC went to TEMPLE as opposed to back to the NFL or a BCS program.

Eh, I dont see that as an issue. Its not like every BCS D-line gig comes open every year. Dude was let go and rehired within an offseason. Perhaps he felt that Temple would be a good, 1 year gig to re-evaluate and market himself for a better gig and ended up finding that gig with coach Golden @ Miami. Just a thought, highly plausible thought, tho.

How does one go from NFL to Temple????

There in lies the real question.

None of you are qualified to determine whether or not Jethro Franklin is qualified or not. The real question is what makes any of think you know jack **** about coaching D-lines at Miami? LOL!

Also, Jethro didn't go from the NFL to Temple. All any of you have to do is look at his resume and see he went from the NFL to USC and then to Temple. Maybe Golden knows more than some of you? :foodnd:
