Jerry Palm’s Prediction re Canes

You really think this Miami team beats Bama or South Carolina? I don’t and that’s why we shouldn’t be in. If you do then you are equally welcome to your opinion.
You really think Oklahoma beats Bama lol

You really think Michigan beats OSU lmao

Just think about what the Vegas lines would be man! I mean, which team would you take on a neutral field. It’s obvious!

See, I could work for ESPN too.

Definitely a small chance. Bama got blown out by a bad OU team. It’s South Carolina that we have to worry about
One small hope is that the only way to avoid a huge SEC headache/internal SEC chaos is to put us in over Bama, Ole Miss and SC. They wouldn’t have to explain why they chose one SEC team over another especially an SC a team that lost to both Bama and Ole Miss. Put us in and the argument is we have 1 less loss and the losses were by a combined 9 pts.

For those of you saying we don’t deserve to go, or don’t want to see us go and get beat, I don’t get it. I 100% want them to go. Yeah, the defense is putrid but anything can happen once we get in
People in here talking like it’s a 4-team field.

Everyone arguing against Miami forgets to apply the very standards they’d use to keep us out to other teams who they think should jump us.

I mean, we lost 25% of our games man…including getting blown out by a 5–5 team where we didn’t even score a single TD! That 5-5 team manhandled us ALL GAME, totally dominated us, ran the ball down our throats and we couldn’t stop them. Oh and that 5-5 team hadn’t run the ball all season. Joke of a defense. Imagine what a CFP team would do to us! We had 70 rushing yards to their 257 (!) and our supposed amazing QB threw for 164 and 3 (!) picks. And that was our 3rd loss.

Oh wait…

Exactly. SC is the hottest out of all of us but I don’t think the committee wants to have to deal with the Bama faithful and the headache that goes with it.

The numbers show Miami is 10-2 with having 6 true road games while Bama/SC each had 5.

We had no losses at home. SC had 2. Bama went 2-3 on the road!! We went 4-2

Very curios to see the perception of UL (8-4 & Blew out UK @UK) UF (7-5 but beat LSU/Ole Miss AT the swamp where we crushed them), Duke (9-3 with a close loss to a top 10 team in SMU) GT after lasting so long with UGA, Syracuse (9-3 with wins @UNLV, Vs Miami and one of the best offenses in the country) & how us having an extra road game factors in.

UF/UL & Duke are stronger wins than people think & our 25 point comeback AT Cal is also very impressive. 3 of our strongest wins were on the road & there’s a chance that UF/Syracuse/Duke or UL are ranked later today/Tuesday

Oklahoma is 5-7 & Vandy is 6-6 lol

SC started the year 3-3 but is finishing 9-3
Where as started 9-0 and are finsihing 10-2.

Again I think GT isn’t as bad of a loss as people think and Syracuse might end up top 25 after finsihing 9-3 with now multiple top 20 wins so…we aren’t dead yet

I will certainly take it but i don’t think i need to tell yall this but we will not like it. It will not be fun.

I truly believe our defense is trying their hearts out but it’s mental at this point. They literally have forgotten how to play and there is nothing that can be done to fix it at this time.

You are going to need a whole off season of reprogramming for some and move on orders for others including the DC. They are done. They are lost.

The committee should all be fired if they let us in
NO....they should all be fired if they start picking & choosing ANY of the 3 loss teams to get in which will open up all the questions of favoritism, TV influence blah blah blah, resulting in a general brouhaha blowing up in their faces.

Exactly. Our own fans hold Miami to a standard other teams don't have to meet in their minds.

The betting line would be within one score against either of those teams, so yes, of course I think we could beat them. Would we be the underdogs? Yes, probably. South Carolina's best win came yesterday against a Clemson team that has lost to every competent team they faced.

Oregon almost lost to Wisconsin a month ago and snuck past Ohio State on their home field.

As someone said above, every team has holes. The odds would be long but with Ward and the offense, this team can beat anyone.

They did it last year and left out an undefeated team. And everybody was like, yea that was probably the right move. Will be no different this year if it happens again.

We will know Tuesday if we are positioned to even make it assuming SMU wins right? We’d need to be ahead of those 3 sec teams
This... again we SHOULD be ahead of them, everyone has bad losses, no one "deserves" to be in, but the bottom line is we'll finish with 1-2 top 25 wins, both losses one score on the road to top 50 teams and the top offense in the country. I still think they'll put bama in because it's bama but we have the better resume and the eye test looks like **** for both of us on one side of the ball

You don’t think Oregon would score 50+ on us if Syracuse and Louisville **** near could?
No, they wouldn't because it is close to impossible. Syracuse scored a TD on 7 of their last 8 possessions and only got 42 points. With our offense, it is tough for someone to get to 50. Oregon would hang in the low to mid 40s

Miami could get in...but only if the committee has a line in the sand like they did for the previous incarnation of the CFP. From 2014 to just last year, no 2 loss team made the CFP Playoff.

My hypothesis is there is a hard line in the sand for a 3 loss team - especially from the SEC - where they can't actually differentiate those teams.

That leaves Miami as a possibility for that last spot provided SMU wins. Clemson wins, SMU ends up making it.

With that said, we still blew it.
