Yea, different position but my first thought in watching was "this is Dalvin". A dude that if you get him he simply swings games.

haha some Canes fans may still be wearing ties to games if Golden would have landed Dalvin.

Agree 100%. It's always about the Jimmy's and Joe's. Jimbo Fisher was elite when you gave him Jameis and Dalvin and O'Leary and Rodney Hudson and Devonta.....all of a sudden he sucked when you gave him Deondre Francois and Haynes King and Ryan Izzo

Yes. He's the 2023 version of Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, etc.....that kid who is a completely can't miss prospect who will tear up college football, become a household name in the NFL, and if we don't get him, 6-8 years from now all the posts will be "If Miami can just start to keep kids like Jeremiah Smith home" blah blah just like they are now with the current NFL guys.

He's a Sunday player, period. Instant impact, 3 years and out, Day 1 type talent. We hired Mario Cristobal to get kids exactly like this. The absolute top of the food chain, alpha of the alpha, elite of the elite that every Saban and Smart and Day in the country are after since they're freshmen in HS, and who have been poaching for years. This kid is this year's version of that. He has to be here.

If yall had the option of Jeremiah Smith or a 5 star DT like Breland, who yall choosing?

Personally I'm absolutely choosing Jeremiah Smith. I think that would have such a huge impact on future recruiting WR, and just overall in South Florida, it'd pay dividends for the next 5-10 years. Whereas while a top 5star DT/DE would have a major impact, I don't think it'd be nearly to the same level.

We need to have a great season and get him flip him. Would quite possibly be a program altering type of move, which is kinda crazy to say. But I really think that would mark a major shift in this program.

Outside of the UGA commit at QB, I’m taking Smith over anyone in the country for us.

Im taking Smith, the best player in SFLA and #2 overall and Im looking down in spite and disdain at anyone choosing Breland.

Absolutely choosing Smith...outside of Trader and until recently Jeff Thomas (five years + removed from Ahmon Richards) we haven't had a WR this explosive in a long time

I love my Dt's, but I'm going with Smith. Andre Johnson type of receiver.

Normally I'd take the DT.

But Jeremiah Smith is a rare breed WR. The best WR out of high school in over a decade. And being from a hometown school only increases his appeal/value to us.

We get him and he succeeds, Mario can use that for another decade to recruit 5* S.Fla WRs and really from anywhere.

Completely changes the future trajectory of our offense and team to basically keep an elite level 5* WR on the roster indefinitely.

Edit just to add: JoJo can have a similar impact but not at the same level as Jeremiah Smith.

In a general conversation where the question is do you take a 5* WR or a 5* DT, I'm 99% of the time going with the DT. Just fewer of them and the trenches is where games are won.

For Miami and this particular scenario (Smith vs any of the 5* DT this year), I'm taking the WR. The impact of him spurning known WR guru Hartline, being from SFL, reversing the narrative of Mario not appealing to elite WR, and being a 5* talent in general would be a program altering type of move. Not many people can say they have the power to do something like that with their commitment.

Give me the DL if u put a gun to my head lmao. If the DL is dominant he has a bigger impact then a wr imo.

At this point I'm taking a Stone/Breland/Scott

If Trader and Robinson weren't on board(assuming they stick)…Then I'd say Smith is probably on top of my wish list.
