What does the canesport article say?
So it sounds like we have the green light to pursue him. If ever there was a slam dunk case to get a commitment from Mike Rumph, this is it. The kid would start from day one at a school he loved so much he was committed here for a big chunk of the process. He's from Immokalee, home of Edgerrin James and is apparently hearing from Edge. Make it happen Rumph.

* "I wouldn't mind going to Miami," Jackson said.
Yup gotta be nasty to those kids *** that. But erbody about money now so da bytches dont care where he goes, u gotta make him feel it *** it. If kids leave bama they get blasted for it.I've come to lose a lot of respect for "community pressure" when it comes to keeping kids in South Florida. Times have changed and the backlash game has gotten soft since the days Mike Irving talks about and says he wouldn't have made it out of his hood alive if he tried to go to another school. Now a kid can actually spurn us twice and supposed Canes fans will be quick with a "God Bless".

* His current coach says this about his arrest: "He's a great kid, a yes sir, no sir type kid. A good work ethic. JC just was at the wrong place at the wrong time and he'll be a great addition for somebody."

With that sort of unbridled enthusiasm for UM, I'm going to go ahead and call him a Cane lock.

He was never committed to Miami. First FSU then UF. He decommitted from UF and some thought he would pull the in-state trifecta but he never did. Just signed with UF on signing day.

Look at the depth chart at USCe. All the CBs in the 2 deep are returning and 3 are upperclassmen. If Rumph can't close a guaranteed start at the U from day 1 then he's got more to prove than any coach on the staff 10 fold. Jackson would immediately be the no.1 cb on the team.
The Hurricanes didn't fulfill their signing day wishes at defensive back, and now a JUCO prospect who once was a highly touted recruit is emerging as a possibility.
Riverside City College DB J.C. Jackson, a former Florida Gator, has started to get interest from UM, USF, Arkansas and South Carolina.
He is waiting on his first offer, though, and hasn't personally talked to any college coaches anywhere.
"They're going through my coaches," Jackson told CaneSport.
Jackson says he's uncertain just how serious the Canes are about him, but he says he's serious about Miami.
"I wouldn't mind going to Miami," Jackson said. "It's back home (he played high school ball at Immokalee). I haven't talked to coaches yet, though, so I can't say much."
He says he'd like to have a decision in place "in a couple of weeks" and that even if UM offered him today he's in no rush to decide.
He did say he would not need to visit Miami in order to make a decision.
"I already visited my senior year in high school, so I don't need to go again," he said.
So far it's Jackson's defensive backs coach, Isaac Shipp, that has dealt with UM coaches.
"Coach (Mike) Rumph gave me a call a week-and-a-half ago to check out J.C.," Shipp told CaneSport. "He'd coached against J.C. in a state championship game at his former high school (American Heritage), said he remembered J.C. because he was giving them problems. Mike said they'll recruit him heavily."
Shipp says he thinks Jackson will wind up with some major offers.
"I think a lot of people don't realize J.C. is available," he said.
Causing hesitation for programs, of course, is Jackson's arrest for armed robbery while at UF. He was acquitted of those charges Nov. 13.
Jackson missed four games this past season while dealing with his court case.
"When he played he did great," Shipp said. "He's a great player. We used him at safety and corner. He made big plays."
Shipp adds that "He's a great kid, a yes sir, no sir type kid. A good work ethic. JC just was at the wrong place at the wrong time and he'll be a great addition for somebody."
Jackson said he hopes someone is willing to give him a second chance.
"Nobody's perfect," he said. "It's about how you overcome mistakes."
Jackson will be a redshirt junior in the coming season.
"He's open to whatever schools are interested in him coming off his situation with his case," Shipp said. "He's just appreciative for anything, any school that is interested in him."
