Jalen Harrell decommits from FSU

I respect your post but we are not a middle of the road team because of our secondary my friend. They are the least of our problems.

I think the only CB we have that is having a hard time keeping up speed wise is Ivey. And most on here are not ready to give up on him yet since they think its a technique thing.

That said, I trust Rumph and his knack for developing CBs so that is why I like all 3. Now if this were Patke or Barry, I would have a different take. I don't trust either of them with "project/developmental" type players right now. Patke is about to be handed two 4-5* level athletes at their position in Huff and Brooks. Lets see what he can do with them next year.

I agree that we’re not a middle of the road team bc of our DB play. What I’m saying is if we have too many guys in the back end without speed, we will continue to be even if we fix other issues. Same with recruiting interior oline and not guys who can play tackle, or LBs that cant play sideline to sideline and cover. It’s a space game these days and defenses need guys who can move.

If you have less than ideal speed at WR, you can sometimes scheme them open with run routes, crosses, screens, motion, etc. If you have less than ideal size or arm strength at QB you can tailor the offense to fit the player (at least some coaches can). If you smaller Dlinemen you can run a one-gap system and slant, stunt and play games to offset that. If you have big dlinemen, you can run a 2-gap system and free up the LBs to make plays. If you have DBs that lack speed, you will become a target and short of pulling another DB or LB to help cover, you are alone. We can’t be running cover-2 and doubling outside receivers with the amount of blitzing we do. Our LBs get picked on at times bc they overpursue and lose their courage responsibilities, then don’t have the speed to make up for it.

Ur the one being naive thinking that we would be in the race for an elite Safety prospect in late November or early December. If a kid is still trying to figure out were he is going by that time he us chasing bags, we lose that battle everytime.

Ok your right an elite DB prospect for this is a bridge too far for this staff.

But we definitely can find a good prospect late and I know there are a lot better ones than Washington out there.

For example, if Muschamp gets canned at USCjr I would be all their DB recruits because I trust Muschamp & TRob DB evaluations over Banda, Patke, and Rumph.

I posted on this back in August in the Official Offers threads 👉🏾 https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/official-offers-are-out.149099/page-5

But Jalen transferring from Central to Champagnat opened the door for us to potentially flip him. He initially committed to FSU because the DB coach at Central was a heavy influence on him & played a big part in him committing to them. Getting him away from Central helped a lot.

We sent him his official offer back in August & Banda was supposed to be in contact with him back then, Idk if they've maintained contact but we definitely should be trying to get him down for a visit.

Jalen's dad is a Canes fan & I've heard he wants him to stay home, don't know if we'll even go after him but we would stupid not to.

He can play both CB & S, I like him better at Safety, but either just put the full court press on & land this kid.

If he wants to go to GT god bless him

I can understand kids being disappointed in Miami...But let's run off to a team that notched a flukey win over UM but are getting boat raced by 30-40 in other games? Geoff Collins is no different than Manny Diaz if you are gambling.

It's mind boggling.

All I can fathom is mainly he is hearing this striker talk and not feeling it?
