Jalen Brown

Jalen Brown committed to LSU in July. When the four-star wide receiver out of Miami Gulliver Prep committed to the Tigers, he chose them over the likes of Florida State, Miami, and Michigan.

Those schools are still in pursuit , but a new school is in the mix. Texas A&M has been recruiting Brown for some time. They have tried to get him on campus for a visit, and that will take place this weekend.

Brown will make his first trip to College Station and it will be for an official visit. Jimbo Fisher has been involved with Brown’s recruitment some. The main two coaches communicating with the No. 11 wide receiver in the country have been Dameyune Craig and James Coley.

Not only will Brown get to see Texas A&M play this weekend, but he will get to see Miami as well.
Mario Cristobal, Josh Gattis, and the local program are still going hard after the playmaker in their own backyard.

A return trip to Baton Rouge is expected in the coming weeks. At this time, the commitment is still “strong”, according to a source. Brown is keeping an open mind though, and continuing to communicate with numerous schools.

Auburn has picked things up behind the scenes and Florida State has remained steady with Brown.

There are no visits locked in after this visit to Texas A&M. Visits to LSU and Miami are expected this fall. Others are being discussed. LSU’s biggest threat heading into this weekend is still considered to be Miami.

I'd just be offering up an opinion if I answered that. At the end of the day the only two opinions that matter when it relates to present day Miami football is Zo & Mario. I'll say something that's a measuring stick possibly. I thought (& still think)his closest comp is Chris Henderson. To me up to this very second I'd say Chris Henderson is 4 ply Charmin WITH aloe... I don't care about when he was drafted or anything else. I'm simply talking about his style of play seems pretty soft to me.
There are a bunch of different type of CBs. The more nice way to label those type of CBs would probably be "finesse" rather than just saying soft. The reason why I'd say that is because you can still be a good CB and Soft or you can be a bad CB and soft, Just like you can be a bad/good physical CB.

He'd be more of a finesse player. Maybe he's not a guy that's going to tackle great. But if he's locking down a WR, I'm not going to get too concerned with HOW he's doing so (assuming he is responsible for it - not like because he's being given a bunch of help). Obviously I'm not trying to compare him to Deion, just making a point, but Deion is probably the prototypical "soft" but great CB...

So I don't make an assumption I'll ask the question. Are you saying cj Henderson is a lock down any version of corner?

I think we all know this.

I'm sure the staff values ****ey and Hykeem more than Brown. Williams, not sure where he is on the board with respect to Brown but I sense he's valued more. Obviously the staff is on Innis as well. That's 3-4 guys ahead of Brown. Not sure how Jean fits into all that but one can argue that Jean is higher on the board than Brown. JMO/
I don't have an issue with those guys being ahead of Brown. With that said, if that's who we have ahead of Brown, it'd be foolish to be lukewarm on him. We could easily strikeout on everyone you named.

Lol no regarding Henderson. The bottom part I was talking about Jalen Brown at CB and just saying IF he was able to lock guys down it doesn't matter if he's soft

I was just saying in general IF a guy is soft/finesse but is also lock down I don't really have much of a problem with them being soft. If you're locking up WRs, you have some grace to be bad at tackling. It may hurt when those types miss tacked, but the positive of locking up a WR is worth it.

Nah cause sam was physical at least

I never understood the love for CJ Henderson. **** of an athlete, and **** good with shorts and a tee shirt on. But when things got physical, he played soft and lost contested balls.

Sam was different. Everyone knew he was going to convert to DB at Miami, but we did such a horrific job recruiting WRs we had no one else but him to turn to. Once Shannon added WR depth, he moved him over. No one ever questioned his talent and potential, he was never afraid of contact. It was focus for him.*

*He was a little immature when he got to college (most of us are) and got into Randy's doghouse which set him way back. One of his friends/roommates used to post on Canetimes so we got a little insight there.

I wished he made the switch to corner a lot sooner. He would have been drafted in the first 3 rounds
