New #Canes QB Jake Heaps on getting to know Miami's other QBs: "We've all worked extremely hard, it's been a good transition that way."

Jake @jtheaps9 on @DukeJohnson_8 : "He's got great vision, catches the ball out of the backfield really well, he's a smart guy.''

Camron Ghorbi ‏@CamronGhorbi 7m
Jake Heaps: "I think everyone knows about Duke Johnson. Everybody understands what kind of player he is...he's got everything."

Christy Chirinos ‏@ChristyChirinos 7m
Heaps on Miami's offense: "These guys are extremely talented, it's been very fun for me to throw to these guys and work with them."

Camron Ghorbi ‏@CamronGhorbi 5m
Heaps on WRs: "From the first time I got here, it's been a blast. These guys are hungry, they want to do well...it makes life easy as a QB."

Susan Miller Degnan ‏@smillerdegnan 5m
.@jtheaps9 "There's a lot of aspects when you talk about transferring. ...I've tried to come in and be nobody else but myself.''

Christy Chirinos ‏@ChristyChirinos 3m
More than once Heaps has stressed importance of showing new team his work ethic. "I think they've gotten to see that & gotten to know me."

Susan Miller Degnan ‏@smillerdegnan 3m
.@jtheaps9 "for me, good or bad,'' it's "going out there and playing every down like it's your last.''

Manny Navarro ‏@Manny_Navarro 2m
Jake Heaps said the only time he goes back to his dorm room is to sleep. Rest of the time he's immersed in football #UM

Heaps on Golden: "I think he's done a great job w/this program...he likes to do things a very particular way...doing things the right way."

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 53s
Heaps: "I feel I can read defenses extremely well, manage the situation, manage the game." If he can do that Sept. 1, #Canes will be happy.

Manny Navarro ‏@Manny_Navarro 5m
#UM Heaps: "I didn't come here to be the backup. I came here to play. But you have to come and earn that. Nobody is going to give that you."

Saying all the right things. I hope whoever starts earns it and nothing is promised. I hope that man is Olsen.

I like that Heaps has finished all his classes so all he has to focus on is football. Who knows maybe he finally plays to his potential knowing this is his last shot.

Now this is the ultimate Delimma for Golden and this is how we will know if he really wants to win. lets just say Heaps Lights it up all games before Nebraska where Williams is supposed to be back.

Does he put in Williams since he worked so hard (Loyalty) or Does he Keep the Hot Hand and win games?

Golden has been Loyal to other players because of the NCAA mess playing guys like Highsmith who he knew wasnt that good. even David Gilbert who is on Tennessee Titans said that the reason who didn't play as much is because Golden was loyal to the player he "recruited".

No so fast..who ever wins at Louisville holds the job if playing well.....if heaps wins the job and struggles and wins than maybe we look at williams or Olsen..

but I have a feeling Sept 1 is our QB for the year...with 2 or 3 very capable QBs backing them up

Very interesting to see what would happen. I just can't see Golden giving the keys back to Ryan Williams if Heaps/Olsen is lighting it up.

If golden starts heaps or Williams and they are underwhelming he will lose the fans and possibly the team. It would cement the idea that next year isn't the year either as the heir apparent couldn't beat out an underwhelming transfer. I hope this factors into his decision.

COMPETITION! gotta love it. I truly believe it will bring out the best in everyone

seems to be what most posters are missing..who pushed Marve or Jacory or Morris..2 & 3 guys...whipple or highsmith..

this is the best shape our QB position has been in years..3 4 star recruits and Williams who has been in the system has a family..mature and smart..

Kaaya 4.0 guy....Heaps smart as well mature....

Just for fun here is my prediction:

1. Heaps will start this year and if he struggles Williams will eventually take over.
2. Olsen transfers eventually....maybe after this year or before next season when he realizes Kayya will beat him out.
3. Kayya will start 2-3 years then declare for the NFL draft
4. Lawson or Rosier will compete to see who will be used as that duel threat qb in certain formations. The winner stays loser transfers.
5. Jack Allison takes the reigns after Kayya departs.

I am probably off on this quite a bit but I think its fun to make these predictions and see how it actually unfolds.

Regardless of what I said...I want the best qb to start....the one that gives us the best opportunity to win games....I could care less who it is.

Go Canes!

I find this very plausible. Olsen, if he can grow up enough, soon enough to prepare his *** off instead of party his *** off could make the scenario a competition that improves them all. We'll see.
