Rumor Jake Garcia to Nebraska

Whipple made Kenny Pickett just like Charlie Weis made Tom Brady.

Come on, this is Kenny Pickett we’re talking about here. He was going to NYC even if he didn’t have an offensive coordinator.

Wait...what?!!?!

This the same Kenny Pickett y'all absolutely killed Manny for over and over and over again? "Manny made Kenny Pickett look like a **** Heisman winner!!" I saw that 50000x on this site. Now you're gonna tell me that the kid was a superstar and no matter who coached him he'd be a ******* Heisman finalist?!!?!

I meant to say, many of us were worried that he’d hit the transfer portal pretty darn fast, given his history, and not compete if he didn’t win the job immediately.

I, for one, will be very surprised to see him on the roster next august. Based on his history, I have his transfer odds at 85%. But I’d love to be wrong
I heard his parents got a place in Gables and they were set on giving it at least one more year before thinking of transferring. But that was a month ago and things change. Even if he transfers, any big school that brings him in would be insane to guarantee him the job. He has proved nothing at this level. He would be entering a QB competition anywhere worth a ****.

I didn’t read the thread because all of the canesinsight brain trust told me I am retarded.

The portal is by far the worst thing to ever happen to college football. The NCAA is run by a bunch of myopic dimwits.

I hate the fact that the "disagree" emoji is a big red X. Seems too visually confrontational just to express a difference of opinion. lol

Im on the other side of this opinion. The system in place before the portal was way, way worse. The idea that a kid could only transfer to schools that the departing team's coach and AD allowed him to was criminal IMO. Yes the portal is an over correction but the legal climate made it inevitable. Had the NCAA showed some kind (ANY KIND!!) of leadership before the law suits started, they could have prevented the free-for-all we have now.

Ehh I think Garcia is pretty special and I'd prefer he stick around.. Agree it's not the end of the world if he doesn't, but I sure hope he does.
There have been higher ranked QB’s who hit the portal, Garcia hasn’t actually played in any games to be special.

There’s potential there, but he’s not Trevor Lawrence lol

Bailey Zappe, Will Rogers, Brennan Armstrong, Kenny Pickett & Carson Strong all threw for over 4,000+yards & 30+TD’s this season, guess what? NONE of them were even 4-stars QB’s coming out of HS.

Take a solid QB with good traits, pair him with a good OC & you’ll have high level productivity...

The formula is tried & tested.

Use this instead.

I do not look at this like Garcia got beat out for the job. He got injured ending any chance he had this year. I think TVD may have ended up with the starting role anyway but not the same as being beat out for the job. One more year and TVD probably gone to pros. Depends on what he ultimately decides but future looks bright for him here.

He’s one play away from starting. With our line, it’s never been more true.

If there is any shred of truth to this we need to get Brady in here ASAP to assuage any fears Jake might be having and guide him in the right direction.

Wait...I didn't call you retarded...does that mean I'm out of the CIS brain trust?

Agreed, let us not be like Napier and not care about stars, lol. In all seriousness, Garcia can be a good QB for us if he waits his turn.

Does anyone know if the NCAA has extended it's transfer exemption from last year? As far as I know, non-grad transfers will have to go back to sitting out a season again. That immediate eligibility exemption was supposed to only be for last season. As far as I know, if Jake Garcia, or any player who is yet to graduate wants to transfer to another FBS program, he would have to sit out for a year.
