Rumor Jake Garcia to Nebraska

You have not followed Gracias career. He has a lot of talent, but he doesn’t unpack his bags. Can’t have your QBs/team leaders not all the way in.

I like Garcia a lot, but I’ve been a TVD guy from jumpstreet (even before he exploded this season) and Garcia’s penchant for leaving was one reason why (but I also thought / think TVD had better tools)
Chum on Lee... just because I doubt Jake leaves Miami doesn't mean I haven't followed his high school history. I will grant you that Jake seems to be the type of guy that wants badly to be on the field, he seems to be the type of guy that believes in himself and believes he is the best player. We should all want that in a Hurricane QB. At the end of the day in MY opinion Jake gets better and better over the course of the next year or two and whenever he steps on the field, he lights it up as a Miami Hurricane with the rest of the guys he came in with last year.

"We know they're about to feel the return of the Monster"

While it would suck if he leaves, I can't blame the kid. **** our new coach just called TVD the best QB in the country lol. The days of sitting behind someone for more than a year are over.

I hope he sticks because Jake has that IT factor. Kid just walks and talks like Miami. Everyone from different paths and cultures seem to vibe with him here.

Who cares?

Have yall seen the Portal?

There’s gonna be great QB’s in the Portal every single year...

Bailey Zappe who was unrated 0-star QB coming out of HS, just came from a FCS program & lead the Nation in passing yards & TD’s. You can take a FCS kid & pair him with an Air Raid coordinator & manufacture productivity.

The QB market will always be bountiful because of the Portal, as long as you have a viable OC/QB evaluator you can pretty much replace any QB you lose.

Garcia could potentially be sitting behind a sleeper Heisman candidate next year. There is invaluable knowledge there that he would be giving up by going to some lame *** midwest school.

Don't do it Jake.

Imo student athletes will end up frustrated under transfer rule letting them play immediately. Reason being that it puts an impossible pressure on them to transfer if they aren’t guaranteed playing time. Meanwhile it will lead to loads of students feeling that pressure. Instead of being able to simply relax and buy into the program they commited to. And if it doesn’t work out their was always grad transfer, which lets them play.

It reminds me of prisoners dilema in game theory…. The optimal move for each individual, ends up with a WORSE outcome overall.

That is pretty overblown when you look at his transfers. His last three schools were his CA HS, he then transfers to HS in GA since CA did not have a season due to covid. He was then ruled ineligible and transferred to another HS in GA where he won a ring. Let’s not do this until we see him transfer.
You are wrong. He attended 5 high schools in 4 years. Garcia went to 3 different High schools in California (Long beach Poly, Narbonne, and La Habra).

He then moved to Georgia due to covid, and went to 2 High schools in Georgia. He played a game at Valdosta and was ruled ineligible and then transferred to another school in Georgia (Loganville Grayson) 1/3 of the way through the season.

He attended 5 high schools total in 4 years, in addition to decommiting from SC.

Many of us were worried about his recruitment and whether he’d enter the portal quickly, due to his penchant for moving on. This is not news.

His CA HS transfer was because all the coaches he went to play for were fired/left. Problem with that, anyone? There has been a very logical reason for each transfer. Two of his transfers CA-GA and GA-GA were so he could continue to play football. It was out of his control. If he hadn't left he would have had to miss a year of competition. Problem with that, anyone? Covid-19 really messed with his HS career. Not his fault, at all. This kid would crawl through glass to compete. He practically did.

His family moved to Coral Gables and bought a house. His father was quoted recently saying that TVD starting this year will not impact Jake and he will not be transferring. That he wants to compete. That he loves Miami.

Nebraska, lol. Don't care where his dad went. They are living that good SFL life now.

I am not wrong. You just basically recapped what I said regarding his last year of high school. There are completely valid reasons for his last two transfers. How were you worried about his recruitment when he was a USC commit for almost all of it and was never a Miami commit until he signed? Kids commit and decommit all the time.

And you’re right. This isn’t news. It’s a rumor put out by one of the worst “journalists” to ever cover this program.

I didnt read the previous six pages. Here's my macro-level take:

I expect to see a bunch of these reports regarding Jake Garcia this offseason. We're going to find out what kind of character Jake Gracia (and his parents) really have. If he bails this offseason and runs away to another school, to me it will predict his failure. We've all seen this story way too many times over the past couple decades. QB's who go from school to school to school rarely pan out.

Keep in mind that Jake Garcia changed high schools several times once he got on radar. If I'm not mistaken, he attended 3 high schools in California then two in Georgia.

At this rate it seems clear that TVD will not be at UM more than two seasons. That means Jake Garcia can be a starter at UM for 3 full seasons. Where else can he go and have that kind of opportunity? Not many places where the programs are in good shape. UM is on the way up. Nebraska (and the other 5 or 6 schools I suspect he'll ultimately be rumored to) are all stagnant.

We'll see what the kid and his family are made of.

He's never experienced cold weather. And it wouldn't be wise with his bad wheel either. Their OL was terrible which is why Frost just fired Austin.

Ehh I think Garcia is pretty special and I'd prefer he stick around.. Agree it's not the end of the world if he doesn't, but I sure hope he does.

I really hope he doesn't leave, not because I'm a a fan of Miami, but because it would just be a bad move in general.

TVD is gone after next year and Garcia will likely inherit a mature offense ready to go. The skill positions will be peaking when he takes over and Mario likely would have had time to build the O-line up. If Joe Brady is true then he'll explode.

If this is true THIS is the stuff that drives me crazy about the portal and some of these kids. He will start on a top 10 team in 2 years. It's there for him if he just waits.

He probably has a better shot at a playoff run than TVD does.

Did he talk to those South Dade (?) kids who apparently encountered the devil in Nebraska? Never seen people get out of a place with more desperation.

On a serious note, I actually just got done watching all of his spring and in-season snaps. Kid can play. Sliding his feet around the pocket like Sugar Ray Leonard.

I meant to say, many of us were worried that he’d hit the transfer portal pretty darn fast, given his history, and not compete if he didn’t win the job immediately.

I, for one, will be very surprised to see him on the roster next august. Based on his history, I have his transfer odds at 85%. But I’d love to be wrong
