Bud you called a coach who took Miami to their first Elite 8 ever and then the next year took Miami to their first final four ever - after being the first coach to ever take a mid major to the final four in the modern era of basketball - a mediocre coach.

You have never accomplished anything in your life close to what L accomplished at Miami… so perhaps you should look inward with your judgment.
 
Thamel and Borzello are more in line with Ferman. No job offered. Expect a hire at the end of the regular season. Lucas is the focus. Would be on brand for the Miami reporting side of this to jump out before they’re supposed to and muck it all up.

Lucas is a good recruiter. He won't emulate Duke or UK at Miami, but we can recruit just like we have been and that's plenty good enough.

As a coach, I like that he left Cal and UK as the ship was sinking. Coach K isn't there anymore. Assistants play big roles and he's an offensive guy.

The biggest question for me is roster management. Who the heck knows. That's the best quality for every coach in the NIL world and we just have no idea what to expect with him on that front. I think it's a bold and exciting hire.

He's not an offensive guy. His Duke bio labels him as their defensive coordinator
 
Let's see how it plays out. I like the hire. It's certainly not one I expected however. Many of us posted coaching lists that cast a very wide net. Tbh, Jai wasn't on any of mine. Still, I'm not disappointed. This is a very high ceiling move. I wish Jai all the best. He's a smart guy and will make smart moves.

That being said, as others have pointed out, I'd be keen on seeing who we reached out to.
 
I only follow this thread because I love seeing Ferman get his **** kicked in.

Outside of that, I may start to follow College Basketball in general this year vs the NBA.

A few reasons off the rip:

1. They overwhelmingly favor blue bloods
2. They are are attracted to tradition, history of sustained success (under multiple coaches), etc.
3.. They command insane NIL deals

With NIL, it is much easier to attract a one-and-done player.
 
Biggest boom or bust type of hire… time will tell but feels a little underwhelming with our recent tourney runs with coach L

And he's doing it all for the first time in the ACC. A conference that is not kind to first year head coaches.

I don't know about Rads process but at least he went out and got a proven winner for the women's team(she's finding out that the ACC is no joke!) This hire feels rushed.

We'll see in 2 - 3 years. Maybe it will prove to be a genius move like hiring Coach L was for the first 10 years..

Then he lucked into a 2 year run because of the portal. And then he caused the collapse of the program because of how bad of a recruiter he was and tried fixing it in the portal, but missed on almost everyone.

Saying recruiting is not as important in this day and age is something.

Is this really a done deal? I don’t trust Ferman for a second, but there are other reputable sources out there saying this is no where near official yet.
