Jaden Rashada

Any chance the kid has the goods or at this point definitely not worth the squeeze and more in the Martell & Garcia camp?

Gators not missing him at all on the Lagway train.
ASU just put on a showing in the CFP without him.
Georgia looks to have said thanks but we’re good with Gunner.
Some thoughts on Rashada:

1. He wanted to be at a Power 2 school. When Florida's duplicitous deal fell apart, he was left with limited options and went to ASU for the 2023 season. He played three games and was then hurt.

2. The opportunity to transfer to Georgia - and it's spotlight - came up in the last offseason and he took it. He was the #3 quarterback going into last season. He saw no playing time and redshirted this season after taking a medical redshirt in 2023.

3. Gunner Stockton was the #2 quarterback and had an additional year of experience. He got the snaps and would be the likely candidate to win the starting job next year. Gunner has three years of eligibility left, Rashada four

So it's less washing out - it's more Jaden wants to be able to have significant playing time in 2025 versus having to wait until possibly the 2028 season. Kind of like Scott Covington - he wanted to transfer if I recall correctly because Clement won the job and had the position for 1994 - 1997; Covington had to wait until 1998 to finally play.

If Florida hadn't done a Spaceballs type "Ludicrous Speed" offer of $14.3M (they might have well as made it $1.4B for what it ended up being), Rashada is likely playing in that bowl game last week, and we never sign Poffenberger. I wouldn't be against signing Jaden, although it does create the risk of Luke transferring out if Rashada emerges as the starter.

Called it way back when. When ppl were sweating these players I was juts laughing.

Kirkland has baby hands and was always going to be a bust. Cormani is just a complete clown and Rashada has terrible mentors in his life.

No clue where Tyler Williams is these days
Williams is at Minnesota.

The most obvious evidence you don’t participate in the auctions to bring in a high profile High School QB.
agreed. it's gotta be difficult to navigate as a program right now

i mean the last three weeks this board (myself included) has been *****ing about the poor handling of the QB position

when in all likelihood, even if we had recruited better, it's all for naught as most qb's end up transferring.

i think you'll see more programs ride or die with true freshman / RS freshmen and then go to the portal if necessary if they aren't up to snuff to avoid it

You have to be accurate with who you go with. Emory was what it looks like when you’re extremely inaccurate and that’s where the complaining on this board comes from.

But had he been the guy, he’d be in the system for 3 years and cheap. He’d get his pay bump once he truly won the job and performed.

I don’t think people would be upset if we were going into year 3 of Nickel.

Alternate theory - Georgia said he wasn’t gonna be the guy and he could find a new home or take a pay cut

i agree - i'm not saying that's wrong

but if it were someone who was legit (much better than emory), would they have waited? - most competent backups who know they could be starting elsewhere end up transferring

You’re right. Year 3 is pushing it. I think they’ll wait 1

Which means the portal is the norm for most schools. But when there’s a “down” portal qb class- I think that’s where it leaves us right now

But idk, Mario and them will find someone, even in the spring window. Coaching failures yes, but he hasn’t failed talent wise like that and it’s a glaring need so I have faith (even if just a little)

They have to do something to fix this transfer portal ****

Probably not possible, but could it be something like, if you take a portal kid you lose a scholarship for that year; or receive one additional scholarship -like in baseball if, you lose a free agent you get a compensatory pick in next years draft

Time to back up the mini cooper for an emergency option. Offer the guy 100k to come in and compete for the starting job. If he doesn’t win it he rides the pine in orange and green as he was originally going to do with his iPods in then he can bounce to start the Luke era after we bring home number 6 with beck or Emory. Easy peasy.

2023 - Three games, injury. Medical redshirt
2024 - Redshirt

I didn't know Medical redshirts doesn't count as a redshirt for a freshman. I always thought if a true freshman got injured they were just automatically redshirt. Confusing stuff but that explains why he has 4 years left.

That’s possible - I think simply that he wasn’t going to be given the chance to beat the other QB and that he would be a backup - with the NIL that comes with being a Georgia backup.

They need a collective bargaining agreement.

Or we end up with this in 10-12 years:

1) No eligibility limits. We’ll have numerous players on the field for 6,7,10, or even 12 years

2) No scholarship limits. We’ll be back to the days of a few colleges with extremely high NIL hoarding hundreds of players

Both rules are as arbitrary - particular the first one - as the requirement that was legally struck down that made a player sit out a year after transferring.

It will be interesting to see if Trammell Jones - 4 star QB who signed with the Gators - ends up sticking with them knowing that he’s likely to sit behind Lagway for at least two years, if not three. Perhaps the hope is that he sees some playing time in 2025 and can then parlay that into an offer from another school with a higher NIL total.

Thanks for the post. I have no memory (significant win) of Clement and his years being the starter. I will always remember Covington helping to take down UCLA in 98.

I know that at one point Covington tried to transfer and Butch refused to let him leave.

If I think back to Miami history…if free transfers and NIL was allowed how many quarterbacks in recent memory would have transferred?

1986:: Steve Walsh - Decides he does not want to wait a year behind Vinny Testaverde

1987: Craig Erickson - Loses competition to replace Testaverde and transfers out

1990: Gino Toretta - Starts several games as a freshman, but has to wait until 1991 to replace Erickson

1994: Frank Costa - Temporarily loses starting job to Ryan Collins in 1993, spurring transfer for senior season

1995: Scott Covington

2000-2015: QB recruiting was so slipshod that Miami never was able to build up the sort of depth that would lead to a transfer such as in the modern day

2016: Malik Rosier - Got playing time in 2015 due to Kayaa injuries, decides not to sit out 2016

2019: N’Kosi Perry - Transfers after it appears the new staff does not favor him as a starter

2020: Tyler Van Dyke - Decides that he does not want to sit behind D’Eriq King for two years

2022: Jake Garcia - Cannot wrest starting job for TVD, decides to enter the portal

“Free DC”
And then a few years of is it Kirby, Jacory or Marve?

Amazing, crazy that it’s already been dang near 15 years since the time for the pimp glass show.
