Jacob Lichtenstein 2017 DE would he flip to UM if offered

How do you evaluate a kid's ability when 80% of the plays on his tape have him slanting inside and going unblocked?

Even with that said, it doesn't appear that this kid has great bend which would mean he can't play DE on the outside. (Miami is looking for guys who can bend and run now) If he can't play DE then he'd have to gain over 50lbs and play DT.

His tape is hard to evaluate for the DE position cause he's seldom playing on the edge.

This is why I used the comparison to Matt Walters as an interior pass rusher, if Lichtenstein can improve his flexibility through a college FBS S&C program then he can play the SDE to set the edge while still pressing the pocket similar to what JJ Watt did at Wisconsin. But more so I Lichtenstein growing into a 3Tech that provides inside pass rush similar to Matt Walters. The fact he is slanting a lot plays to his athletic ability to get into the gap and go.

But again I am projecting this young man after a definite red shirt year where he puts on a good 15lbs and then another 15lbs over the next 2yrs to make him a 6'5" 280lbs redshirt sophomore 3 technique DT.

This is most likely USC's plan for him to be like their Sophomore LB\DE Porter Rustin.

I think most of us are fairly confident that the OP, being Paranos, isn't related to Lichtenstein. Just a guess though.

suspect competition and how can anyone tell from the videos he's a "student of the game"? A strange thread for a kid recruited by the outgoing staff and not sniffed by Richt & Kool, while our class is pretty solid & we have some serious horses calling from out of state to be hurricanes...

We have 5 spots left and haven't played a game. We should be looking for high-level talent in positions of need like WR & OL, not one-dimensional projects at our deepest position. come again.

What does a JJ Watt/Matt Walters type even mean? One dude is a HOF DL, the other was a decent college player

Cypress bay doesn't play suspect competition. Wrong there.
Mom competes in bikini competitions.
Let's see if that offer from usc is commitable. Not being recruited by big 3? Interesting.

He is committed to USC(w) already, hence I posed the question of would he flip if Miami offered him later in the season.

An I agree Cypress Bay plays very good competition.

If he was black but same exact player would you still compare him to JJ Watt?

Oh don't be that way, the good Miami defenses throughout the years have always had one bad *** white boi this year we will have Jamie Gordinier and we need one for the future defenses so why not Lichtenstein if we have room.

An FYI outside of race the comparison to Watts is valid because of similar athleticism for the size, he is also an effort player, and has a high football IQ. The kid is a grinder who will continue to develop.

USC is taking a small class for 2017 so they would not come across the country for some JAG type player, when they have their pick of so cal.

Rusty medaris, George Mira jr, Dan Morgan to name a few and even Colin McCarthy I would say

Greg Mark.

Cypress plays some very tough competition. They're in a district with Plantation, Flanagan, South Plantation and Miramar.

And they're always well coached.

At this point in his age flexibility is pretty well set. Limb length, body structure, etc. that aid in flexibility are genetically inherited to a great degree. Some improvement could happen but not a wholesale renovation. Plan B player.

He obviously not a finished player. We may have players higher on our board but the kid performs at a high level he isn't a scrub. May be even a little ahead of Ford at this time.

Does anyone know what it is about this kid who's a hard commit to USC(w) that he's being chased from outside the state but none of the big 3 have offered?
