Have Mario lost out on a o-line recruit that he was all in on yet
Connor Lew
Isendre Ahfua
Kavion Broussard

These are just 3 of the top of my head and there’s been few others since the Francis/Samson class. My point isn’t to **** on Mario because ALL the so called “great recruiters” miss on their targets, Saban and Smart both have missed on a ton of DBs throughout their careers but he’s not infallible and every kid has different reasons why they pick a school.

I view this recruitment similar to the Lew one as in Cantwell may really want to come here and play for M&M but he has other career aspirations (T&F) that factor into it. I know unlike the Lew situation we actually have a T&F program this time but when it comes to competing against the other finalist in terms of T&F programs, facilities and resources it’s really no comparison.

So IMO it’s a really big obstacle that takes more than just a bag to overcome. Hopefully this time Mario the “recruiter” can overcome it.

I absolutely think money will be the reason. Why is he visiting Oregon all of a sudden? If they go way over our offer, he'll be a duck unless we match it. Business decisions man
It’s an auction that’s all it is Jay Sugarman auctions company is swamped.

Like auctioning thoroughbreds “ DO I HEAR $$$” this is the professional sport of CFB it’s become a billion dollar business that’s all it it now.

Headed in that direction. What I question / wonder is how long these companies (schools) are going to fleece alumni (fans) to pay for their employees (players) via NIL (i.e. fake contract).

It may be viable now, but how long will this continue, especially when some (most) are not getting a ROI on their investment?

Professional organizations have real contracts, salary caps, etc.; they nail fans via tickets, concessions, and merchandise. Professional sports on the collegiate level (because that's what it is) are an anomaly in this respect. It's a complete **** show. I fail to see how this will work.

All these colleges and players have their collective hands out and think people and businesses are going to be an endless well of money. I don't see the viability...

If he visits Oregon it’s over.

We’ll see how serious we are as a program. We’ve got the coaches with a proven track record of development. Current players who will be high picks.

We let OSU grab Smith last minute when they upped it to 4 mill.

I’d imagine Oregon and Phil Knight want to stick it Mario as much as possible. Expect a heavy bag come if from them.
Exactly.....this is likely not a Lanning vs Mario battle at the end...it's Phil Knight making it all possible....sounds like the kid wants to be at Miami but NIL has changed the game....if that's the case with this kid....Let's hope Miami is prepared to spend a big bag somewhere in the ball park to have a chance....

If we're truly the leader the kid will give us every chance to match what Knight puts out there. It's business of course. Kid would be crazy not to listen to the last minute bag increase offer. But if we value this kid that much we gotta win out. Him, Pepe, and Cooper seem to be our top 3 of the board guys. Our class will ultimately be judged by how many of those guys we land.

Why do we have so many soft-shouldered ***** fans?

This isn’t a dollars and cents thing for the people driving the collectives and throwing their cash at NIL. It’s emotion and ego…there is very different calculus in that ROI equation.

Maybe. Maybe not.

I'm open to dissenting opinions on the topic.

We'll see how things play out in the long run.

Look at the A game attendance in Tuscaloosa yesterday vs years past.

While yesterday wasn’t a traditional spring game I’d imagine they would draw a bigger crowd than what they did. Factor the portal and having to do away with stuff like spring games into it and CFB is on the verge of a collapse.
