2026 Jackson Cantwell 5* OT from Nixa, MO

This is on topic off topic and not directed at you but I hope we stop using the word “overpay” around here

You can’t “overpay” when you’re battling Oregon/OSU/Texas etc for recruits

And people that say Mario’s recruiting prowess is nullified by NIL I believe this would fly in the face of that narrative if we land him
Yeah “overpay” ain’t a thing.
Market value is what someone is willing to pay.

Upping the bag and getting the most you can is what every #1 recruit should do. Especially if a kid knows where he wants to go.

He’s known he’s getting paid big for a long time so just because Oregon is trying to set something up doesn’t mean much other than they just likely want him to delay his commitment

Might not be money related at all honestly but I agree fully they should maximize every opportunity

This is where I am with it. Unless Oregon is giving him a lifetime Nike deal, his long term best earnings approach is getting coached by Mario. Probably won’t win as much. But he’s gonna make the league. Every 5 star T Mario has signed either as position coach or HC has been a first round pick except Cam Robinson. Who got picked 34th. Mauigoa probably goes T10 next year. Okunlola might be his first who doesn’t. Lanning is about to have his first OL drafted. Connerly. Who laid the groundwork for him going to Oregon?

Getting coached by Mario almost guarantees this kid makes millions/year by the time he’s 22. If he turns that down over an NIL deal he’s severely doing himself a disservice.

Eh, I think that’s very naive to say.

I think everyone has already said it’s about money

It’s not naive to suggest hey maybe there’s a .01% chance it isn’t

I don’t know this kid and his family to just make blanket statements about them but if everyone else is cool with saying it, go for it

When it comes to guys like this and you’re at the finish line there’s no amount of money we can come up with that those programs can’t

Maybe for a kid way down their board that we really want sure, but not something like this. I’d be willing to bet OSU would give this kid the most money given their issues at OL if it really came down to it

Just read the visits. Y'all need to stop letting feelings guide your decisions .

He's gonna get another offer , if Oregon is smart it's a **** you offer and no more visits occur. Miami obviously did not make that **** you offer.

I told you guys 3 weeks ago this kid was a Cane. This **** been over. Nothing anyone can do about it at this stage.

Fong updated his article. The Ov is confirmed now. April 19-21 to Oregon
They likely offering something insane....Miami has to at least give him 75% of that offer to have a chance Imo.... unfortunately bags seem to outweigh relationships these days...

Maybe we make one now and that visit never happens

Oh so he never OV’d Oregon?? Okay well it makes sense then. This could be nothing more than a courtesy visit. I know we use that a lot when players visit here randomly. Who’s to say it doesn’t work in the opposite? This is a big decision. Would rather him see everything he needs to see now and lock it up after he commits. (Hopefully to us). And just a note..Connorly Jr is about to be a 1st round pick at OT for them right? So they got something to sell besides money.
