It's OFFICIAL: We're at SLS FOREVER.

@mattyports: My dog Charlie scouted Tropical Park for viability of a UM move. He found a bone, a cute Pomeranian and no chance of a stadium being built.

@mattyports: @bdubya4201 I'm no urban planner, but new exits off 874/826 wouldn't be enough. Have to re-do the whole area.

I see his stand up is as bad as his sports reporting.

Are dogs allowed in Tropical Park? Can we report him for some sort of secondary violation?

All of you guys have such strong opinions about Miami and their stadium situation yet I don't see anyone here running to the Athletic Department and cutting a check for a couple million dollars.

Face it, we don't have the boosters or the resources to build a new stadium. Never have, probably never will.

And before Consigliere gets his panties in a bunch, please remember that educational fundraising doesn't mean athletic fundraising. Never has, never will. No one is donating to build Miami a football stadium.

Imagine if every athlete we put in the pro's just gave a little back financially, probably could have something there. But that again, never happens, never will. The biggest donations we've got were from a guy who never even enrolled here and a guy who never played in the NFL. How does that even work?

We see it different ways, keep doing you and I will keep doing me.

The one thing I don't get is why you support the opposition? Let's assume you are right, why do you care that others believe the other side of the argument?

I don't support the opposition, I'd love to get a new stadium. But it's just not realistic in any sense of the word. The best case scenario we have at the moment is hoping Ross puts some fantastic upgrades into Sun Life and hoping the product on the field is good enough to change the atmosphere in the building.

People that wallow in the past are just tired at this point, the OB is dead and gone and it's not coming back and that wasn't because Miami didn't want to be there, the politics of South Florida put Miami in a completely unwinnable situation. SLS is our home for the foreseeable future and I wish people would get on board with that instead of *****ing about how it sucks. Does it suck? Sure does at the moment. But with good upgrades and a winning product on the field I don't think people would give a **** where UM was playing games. Winning cures all. We've just been treated to a lousy product since the move and people associate that with the building.

You can put a lipstick on a pig and it will still be a pig. There is no upgrade that can fix that stadium. The gameday experience will continue to be a joke and the football program will likely rot in that stadium like everything else. Fans have given the stadium a chance and it flat out sucks. If we have to accept the fact we will be playing there for the foreseeable then I say you accept the fact that Sun Life is a god **** joke.

We're on such different pages that it is an utter waste of time to discuss the admin and the school's priorities. We just will have to agree to disagree. I am also not dwelling on the OB. That is done.

As for SLS (just the stadium), it is terrible and that is the best way to put it. It will never be a satisfactory place for Miami on a regular basis. The upgrades will have little effect on the game day environment and the place will still feel like we're a little kid wearing our dad's old suit (i.e. doesn't fit our needs). Sure a football game can be played there but the venue will always suck for us most of the time.

If they completely renovate the stadium (which by all accounts is their plan) who knows what it could be like. It's not fair to just completely dismiss a building before they put a half billion into repairing it.

If they do what they plan on doing it's going to basically be a brand new stadium built within the shell of the standing structure. ***** about the location sure, but you can't dismiss something that hasn't even been done yet. Stadium could be awesome if they could just make some progress on it.

Building currently holds BCS games, is in the College Football Playoff rotation but somehow it's not good enough for Miami? Get out of here.

I don't think you understand what we're talking about.

One of the complaints in the seats being too far away. I personally dont like to sit in the first few rows, like to sit back a few to see the whole field better but understand those who like it and want it closer. The upgrade plans state the seats will be moved closer.

There is also plans for a canopy to provide shade to all the seats, is HUGE IMO.

What is there to cry about once those upgrades are made? Distance? For the 5k+ students? I get why they would complain, but everyone else? Size? OB (special place, but gone) held 72k+. Was also dead when we played sorry opponents.

SLS is easy to get to, tailgate game is on point, has chair backs, concessions are fine, amenities are fine, etc.

Maybe we can do other personal customizations to the field. Let me know.

Beckham and his whole group of swindlers should be run out of Dade County. This is a bad deal for the tax payers. Beckham wants both the Stadium lot (part of Museum Park and FEC slip) plus in addition to the stadium lot Beckham wants Parcel B (behind AAA ) for him to develop for new business that have nothing to do with the stadium.

The city wants millions of dollars a year if a stadium is built on waterfront property. David Beckham’s group has suggested $500,000. Miami says it has not countered with a figure of its own, but it’s far higher than $500,000 — as high as $12 million to $14 million, City Manager Daniel Alfonso said Monday.

As part of a land swap, the county would turn over Parcel B to the city for Beckham to develop. The city would turn over the footprint of the soccer stadium to the county so the MLS franchise would not have to pay property taxes.

Since appraisals are based on what can be built on a property, a park has relatively little value on the books, even if it is prized as a matter of public policy.

Alschuler said last week that the property should be appraised at a higher value than for an undevelopable park use. But, he added, it should also not be valued at the highest possible use — say, for an office or condo high-rise — because the city would likely never allow such construction there, and a stadium would not be as profitable.

That’s what usually makes public land cheaper to build on. If the potential stadium site were assigned a value similar to the Miami Worldcenter — a multiblock hotel and convention center project at the nearby site of the old Miami Arena — “that’s not affordable for us,” Alschuler said by way of example.

It's just polishing a ****, but, on the brighter side, if they:

A. Put a roof on the reviled stadium sometime soon.

B. 'Tweak' the seating, especially if they do it in such a way to add more lower bowl seats, and allowing us to tarp over more of the upper deck.

C. Win some ******* games.

It might not be such an embarrassingly mediocre gameday experience...emphasis on 'might.'
