It seems UM’s offense will stay wide-open, vertical, dynamic and spread…

During his meeting with Cristobal (Brown visited with his uncle, who also was in the meeting), he says the new head coach said the offensive system will continue to be a wide open spread attack.

“Coach Cristobal kind of reassured everything,” Brown said. “He was talking about the future, what we’ll do offensively, how I fit. He’s ready to get this thing going. He said it’ll be a spread offense and that there’s a lot of people wanting to come here as coordinator/QB coach. And it’s really his first week here and he’s going 100 miles per hour.

“I’m sure all this will be figured out.”

The bottom line off the visit?

“I had fun,” Brown said. “Everyone had fun.

“For me, I just graduated this week, so this was like a graduation present.”

Brown says he’s “100 percent” with Miami and will sign on Wednesday.

Jacurri is the real deal and has been amazingly loyal from the go. Ironically played against Jake Garcia in a Georgia championship game just over a year ago.

I am curious when Mario says "Pro Style Spread" does that mean he has a preference for heavy terminology West Coast offense and precise pre-determined WR timing routes or whether he is fine with Run & Shoot style routes. I am still not absolutely sure what Mario wants apart from a power run game with aggressive downfield blocking. @Lance Roffers

Whatever they decide on shouldn't be so hard to teach that it takes more than one offseason to implement properly.

When speculation swirled late in the season that Manny Diaz would be replaced, Miami Hurricanes QB commitment Jacurri Brown set up a Mississippi official visit as a "just in case."

That "just in case" wasn't as much about Diaz as it was about what an unknown - at the time - new head coach might foresee for the offense. Brown said he wanted the Canes to remain a spread wide-open attack that forced other teams to defend vertically as well as horizontally.

That Mississippi visit was supposed to be this weekend.

Instead Brown is in Miami for a second official visit to Coral Gables.

He talked with Mario Cristobal the day the coach was hired, met him in person on Thursday, and believes there is total alignment between what he wants in an offense and what Cristobal wants.

I’m trying not to come off as a homer, but I truly think Gattis played everyone. It was the perfect storm…

****ed with Harbaugh and Michigan, he already has the Broyles award in his back pocket. Harbaugh is known as a pro and bro guy, Gattis can easily say he wants a more vertically imposing and tempo offense. What you say and do, however, are completely different.

Mario was looking for spread, but fell back into his comfort zone with a Gattis guy that appears like the perfect blend on paper; I get my physical rushing attack, and a more intricate passing game. Moreover, He thinks he can throw together the best parts of his Oregon staff with his OC and all will be fine.

Instead, we have lies and a flat out disaster. He completely underrated the value of continuity and familiarity amongst staff members. Hopefully he (Mario) does his homework this time…another Gattis-esque hire, and patience will be extremely thin. He deserves all the blame for this hire, but atoning for the mistake in year one is a good sign.
