It seems UM’s offense will stay wide-open, vertical, dynamic and spread…

Cryptical Envelopment

What a long strange trip it's been

When speculation swirled late in the season that Manny Diaz would be replaced, Miami Hurricanes QB commitment Jacurri Brown set up a Mississippi official visit as a "just in case."

That "just in case" wasn't as much about Diaz as it was about what an unknown - at the time - new head coach might foresee for the offense. Brown said he wanted the Canes to remain a spread wide-open attack that forced other teams to defend vertically as well as horizontally.

That Mississippi visit was supposed to be this weekend.

Instead Brown is in Miami for a second official visit to Coral Gables.

He talked with Mario Cristobal the day the coach was hired, met him in person on Thursday, and believes there is total alignment between what he wants in an offense and what Cristobal wants.

Mario literally said he was building around TVD. We have been linked to Brady and Briles for OC so we are looking good

Nothing stops this train.

Frankly, I was really worried about this.

It shows me that Mario will utilize the skills of the players he already has and not try to force them to only adopt a system that he is familiar with.

That may change eventually as he starts getting "his" players but that's NOT where we are now.

Shows me that he wants to win NOW. No dropping gears to rebuild. He is going to try to make this team become awesome on the fly. Ya gotta love it 🥰😎

IF it's not broken leave it alone. Improve it but go with it.

This is the way it should be. It’s what has hurt every HC we’ve had since Coker. Instead of coming in and playing to the strengths you currently possess, they have all tried yo force their systems. Every. Single. One.

Win now with what you have and build up momentum to land the big recruits for the system you ultimately want. This game is always about adapting.

Great post I love Jacurri’s potential absolutely prime grade. And I am happy to get a feel here that we will keep a spread concept. Surely Mario will go a little old school but he knows what is working here.

I want a spread attack but I want us to be able to lineup and get a yard running when we need to lol
Agreed but I think this is as much about personnel as play calling. When we inserted a fullback/h-back into the lineup Knighton gained the yard. When we tried to run power out of a 3-4WR alignment (Mallory is more WR than TE when it comes to blocking), we lacked the numbers and were stopped.
I would keep an FB or HB on the rooster just for short yardage situations. After all, that is probably 2-5 plays per game and they are all very, very important plays. Forget trying to fool anyone in short yardage with personnel. If we want deception, use the big lineup and then sneak someone out for a pass like we did with Knighton against UVA
