The canceling of the college football season would be blamed on Trump, which is precisely why institutional presidents will cancel the season. The media would destroy schools that play football. Do you really think Julio Frenk wants to defend playing football?

You've taken too much hydroxychloroquine with a lysol chaser if you think college sports (football and basketball) will "collapse all together". I guess the money that was there before would somehow not be there when sports resume this spring or next fall or the year 2048. Or maybe Power 5 colleges will just be too tired of it all to bother resuming athletics and begin cashing in again? This ain't your local restaurant that was obviously living on month to month profits and immediately went belly-up in March.

b. i do think some sports will go away (but lets be real, it isnt the ones that any of us care bout on this board)
c. some smaller schools will lose their programs (those wont be any of the major p5s, but the fcs schools which already lost their season)

Even if 2021 does happen, how many ADs can survive 18 months of no revenue? They will have to cut athletics all together or stop giving scholarships. We might all be headed for the Ivy model. Then all these kids who have been given the chance to go get a degree and have a shot at
making it to the league will be left with nothing. It’s the Booby Miles Friday Night Lights Scene - “what am I gonna do now? All I know how to do is play football!” They is wont need to unionize because there won’t be any sports to play

Nah, people have always preferred to argue about the virus or politics or how the world should be in their eyes when talking about this than acknowledging the reality of the landscape and what was always going to be the obvious mentalities/concerns of the majority of college presidents.

Who can survive 18 months without revenue? You underestimate how much money these programs have. The top 20 might survive, but there aren’t millions of dollars stashed away at most programs. At the very least, non revenue sports will see scholarships go away. You’ll have to convince me how they survive if there is no money coming in for a year and a half

Naw bro your not concerned about a virus. We listen to doctors every time except when the president says not to. But you are right this is 100% about lawsuits. My question is how many programs gonna survive all this? $100+ million dollar losses off football alone is gonna do major damage.

The funny part is he is right. This is trump's fault. If Killary had won in 2016 the media would be running interference for her like they did for Barrak and Biden and the swine flu. But since they are **** bent on taking down Trump you could easily say it is his fault.

their lawyers are basically saying this -- if you have one kid go down and get severely harmed due to football (virus related not assumed risk of the game), youre opening yourself up to a HUGE suit vs the losses you face from no football. its a risk benefit analysis theyre playing

His point is that the money will start coming back in just like it used to. Why shut it all down over a temporary decline in revenue?

We don't shut down the country for the flu. People who catch this virus have flu-like symptoms, then they go back to work.
