Issues with coach Mike Rumph

..."I'll give credit to rumph for doing a great job with colbert"...

Very generous of you.

Rumph can sure coach them up, but it does suck to lose the top CB's on an annual basis. Campbell is the best in S FL this year and Surtain isn't far behind. Rumph looks like he will lose both.

Rumph didn't recruit very well in the last class either losing too many top S FL CB's. Previously mentioned by OP, Malek Young was moreso because of Richt (he was committed to UGA previously) and lost all of the higher rated CB's in S FL. Lucky for us on Cooney's ties to Dean and Delaney coming due to depth chart, an obvious starting position, and virtually every other program in college football having their recruiting class filled that late in the process.

This is called telling it like it really is and not being a blind homer about Rumph. He simply does not appear to be a good recruiter and will need to put some more DB's in the NFL before his reputation starts doing the recruiting for him.

I have a feeling the Gator Tears thread has riled up a bunch of UF fans. They seem to be coming out of the woodwork trying to get us to panic or something.

If Rumph develop and starts throwing CB to the league left and right.. he won't have to recruit em.. Kids will line up to play for him.

Dude sounds boring as fuq and he needs to have character and a relationship with the kids he recruits. Just on the outside looking in thats my opinion....he needs to land campbell

What if you were informed his primary recruiter is not Rumph...

We lead for Dent btw.

The evidence of his lack of recruiting prowess is overwhelming. Three years in a row our CB recruiting falls apart down the stretch. We can generally get by missing top CB targets because even the second tier guys in South Florida are really good. But we all want to do more than "get by."

Rumph needs to be nudged back to coaching on an NFL staff where his lack of sales ability doesn't matter. We can't afford too many weak recruiters on our staff.

Don't even know how people are defending the guys recruiting. It's been horrible ever since he got here.

I never believed in someone being a great recruiter. On field results are what matters. Saban gets top kids because he develops talent and he wins. Shannon and Golden missed so many kids because they couldn't produce results. This is the first time there is really no explanation. Rumph is lacking something or has the wrong approach when coming at kids. Just shocking how bad he's missed. I actually questioned whether he could actually coach when he was hired, never thought he would be this inept of a recruiter.

Rumph is a good coach and an easy target right now. But it needs to be stated he has a major flaw as a recruiter, it's his arrogance with recruits, almost like, "you should be honored to come to the U, and if you don't F U." That's fine for us to feel, but it's a bad look for a guy who is recruiting kids that can literally go anywhere in the country.

The problem is not who we've gotten, I'm taking nothing away from the guys like Young, Bandy, Blades, Frierson. They are true Canes who wanted to play here. But the 17, 18, and 19 S.Fla DB classes are historically great and could be the foundation of a National Title defense, especially with the way the college game is passing-oriented where you need to play 5 or 6 Db's at a time. It feels like a missed opportunity with guys who are only miles from campus.

It's not over with Campbell til' it's over. I will say this, if a 5 Star kid who has known our CB coach since youth league and played for him in High School decides to leave the state. I don't see how that is not an indictment on Rumph, and to some degree his personality and demeanor as a recruiter.
