Yes because of the expectations.

Mario has always been a coach whose main shortcomings are centered around the inability to take care of weaker competition. Too often, seasons are derailed via losses to significantly inferior opponents.

This is exactly that scenario. The path is clearly defined - win and you’re in the ACCCG, with a 90+% chance to make the playoff (barring getting blown out by SMU, which I don’t foresee happening).

You lose this, as a double-digit favorite with clearly the most talented roster + QB tandem in the entire conference, a year that FSU imploded, Louisville was decent but nothing spectacular, Clemson tripped up…I mean there’s no excuses. Roster is 95% healthy. Syracuse has clearly defined weaknesses. Good teams and good coaches that understand the implications, can and will punch them in the mouth, and keep their foot on the pedal for 60 minutes.

I expect to win, and I expect to beat SMU in the ACCCG.

BURN THE BOATS!!! (there is no turning back)

Similar to 2019 vs Arizona State. 6 in the country. Bama and UGA lost the next two weeks. That let OU play in the cfp vs Oregon.

Pretty cut & dry IMO. You have an opportunity to get to the dance, all you have to do is beat a team that you are 1000% without a doubt more talented than.

But, I think the same question could be asked next week if we beat SU. It’s a chance to do something that has never been done here, and earn yourself a useful bye.

But to answer your question, for this game, yes.
Spot on

We aren’t asking Mario to beat Texas for the national championship

Just asking for a win against a very solid team when you’ve been given absolutely everything you need to make sure it becomes commonplace

Do your ******* job

The Syracuse game is more important. Why? Making it to the ACC ship game virtually assures a playoff spot unless SMU blows us out (unlikely).

I’d rather not leave that up for chance…

Plus, we need to win the fvckng ACC. It’s downright pitiful that we haven’t and if we can’t with this roster and QB, then we never will.

We have to beat Cuse or it's all over for this season. No ACC championship game--no playoffs and Cam opts out of whatever bowl we go to. Beating SMU gets us the bye , an edge in the playoffs and we can all say that the minimum expectations for this season were met.

Both games games are huge!

I don’t see how it could be anything but. We gotta keep winning to get in. This is the final game. Makes sense
