Exactly. Nicholson appears to be a good coach, but in the event he left, Mario would just replace him with someone just as good or better.

The days of promoting guys like Patke from analyst to coach LBs are over.

Gotta be careful with “home”, though. Yes, he went to fsu. But NC is home. His daddy was born and raised in NC, and played at UNC. Raised both AJ and Derek there. Yeah, they went to play college ball at FSU, so I’m sure there will always be a connection there. But Derek is almost 40….he’s spent 4 years of his life in Tallahassee. That’s it. It’s not necessarily “home”. This isn’t a Ron Dugans situation.

Shanon was not good in his post play days at Miami. I would rather have the memory of him as a player rather than his contribution after. Don’t care if he’s in “trouble” at trailerhoes, I am sure he can find another job, just not at Miami. D Nick, all upside, thus the bump up by Mario. My only thought there is I doubt they scapegoat Shannon and other Defensive assistants and keep Fuller. Ton of their fans are calling for him and have been apparently. If they did only fire Randy then yes I feel like they would give Nicholson a call. If the defense plays the rest of the season like that, and knowing Mike will be here next year as long as he wants to be, then I see the DC getting the axe and then just depends on the new hire. That guy may have his own people set up and not care that Nicholson is a alum.
