I actually like how it played out. Not mature enough yet and seems like there may be some difficult personalities in his camp. Could have been bad for culture.

We release him, no hard feelings, no bridges burned. He is going to a school that cant capitalize on his relationships and hurt us recruiting wise. If he does mature and puts it all together he could potentially still transfer back home with his 1 free move available.

Plus if what others said is correct that teams like USC were trying to get him to help recruit, maybe they used the release to control the transfer. Go to ECU, we grant release, go to USC/Colorado, we do not

I wouldn't have released him. I would have made him use his one-time transfer. He can now start ECU this summer, and turn around and use it to transfer to UF or UGA, etc for fall if he wants to.

But I get that I am not on the inside here, and there were other factors to consider.
