Interesting stat on quality wins

Sadly the committee is going to wipe their *** with these numbers either way. They showed what they think dropping us that far.

Objectively if byu doesn’t win the big12 they should be out entirely, I honestly didn’t realize how *** Indiana’s schedule is I think they get rolled by osu and should be bounced. Currently think smu and Boise are getting screwed by their rankings. I can see army sneaking in.

Where I hope they don’t get it wrong is having notre dame ahead of some deserving teams when they lost to a MAC team and don’t have a conference title to play for. All the flak we get for our schedule theirs is a joke.

Nothing at all against our Armed Services, but I pray Army does not get in. They will have a UGA-FSU type of beating coming if they do.

No I agree. If teams in the top 12 keep beating eachother up I can see them with a punchers chance for 12. Again they do play notre dame so we will see for both of those teams.

Miami aside there is still a lot of losses to be had in the top 15.

This weekend alone SMU, Tenn, and maybe even ND could all take an L.

Just for future reference, the AP and Coaches polls come out on Sundays. The committee reveals their rankings on Tuesday nights.
Sick, optimistically they put us at 10 lol my point still stands. 2 losses and it’s slim to almost none we make it.

We just had a weak OOC Schedule.

ACC is nice this year though. 4 Top 25 teams at the moment, 13 teams at .500 or better. Will have a ton of bowl teams.

When Indiana loses to OSU, they better hope their spot doesn't come down to resume.

The average ranking of Indiana's opponent's scoring offense is 108th. The highest scoring O they've faced is 70th ranked Maryland.

Ball State's 96th ranked scoring offense would be the 3rd highest scoring offense Indiana has seen has seen all year, juuust behind 93rd ranked FIU.

What would our margin of victory and defensive numbers look like if we played the 108th best scoring offense every week?

"Statistically, the best offense of all time" would be on the table with all the extra possessions.

Except, it's not, only to the people on this site who do anything in their power to disparage Miami at the first sign of advertisty.

The committee, who is kind of the important voice here, told you what they thought about Miami's schedule last week, when they ranked them 4th. They ranked undefeated BYU and Indiana much lower. So yes, if you only frequent this board and allow the biggest haters of Miami football to influence you, the schedule is total **** and Miami hasn't played a single team better than St. Thomas. If you listen to the people who actually rank the teams, it's good enough to have a 9-0 Miami team in the Top 4.
We play 6 decent teams this year but no playoff contenders. But that’s too much nuance lol it’s either trash or elite

Generally agree, although I don’t think saying “no chance as a 2 loss team” is 100% accurate. We absolutely need to win our last two conference games, of course. If we lay a **** against WF or Syracuse we won’t go to Charlotte and have zero chance at the playoff. Personally I think the team needs to adopt a playoff approach for each game from here on out - survive and advance.

Provided we handle business and are in the ACCCG against SMU, though, I don’t think it’s necessarily a “must-win” scenario. We are nearing the end already, but there is still a ton of football to be played. Georgia plays Tennessee this weekend, for example. Georgia loses, they’re toast. Tennessee loses - who knows where they land. Texas still has to play aTm. IU / OSU, etc etc etc. Penn State at Minnesota could be a tricky matchup. We will still see a lot of movement.

Still. We need a survive and advance mentality. Every game is a playoff game from here on out.
3 loss uga makes it over a 2 loss Miami IMO. And 2 loss penn state over 2 loss Miami. 2 loss Tennessee etc.

There would need to be crazy level upsets all over the place for us to have a shot. Not going to happen

We have given the committee plenty to use if they want us in....but we all know that they will not do us any favors.

They put us in on ratings alone. Best offense in cbf aginast another top tier offse with our ****** D....you wouldn't be able to get up to **** you'd miss a score.

I know there are a lot of believers in the SP Plus metric on here. We haven’t played any really good teams but we’ve beaten a bunch of pretty good ones:

What about the $EC+ metric? I believe that is best expressed algebraically:
3$ECL = 1ACCL and sometimes 3$ECL > 1ACCL but that depends on the CFP board member's alma mater.

Careful now those are fighting words here now. I really don’t know why some are underestimating the sec bias.
