Interesting post about speed at WR

False equivalency. Talent wasn’t why cam was going low at that point of his career. There’s no real path for horton to all of a sudden be Ahmmon Richards
What does him becoming Richards have to do with anything? His production can very much significantly improve from here, and there is absolutely zero guarantee he is even a day 3 pick at all right now. I seriously have no idea where some people on here are getting their draft buzz about Horton being anywhere near a 3rd round pick right now.
I mean I suppose if he had a big Combine performance it'd be in the realm of possible, but otherwise yall seriously trippin imo.
If the draft was today, Horton MIGHT be a 6th round pick best case scenario.

Quick is more important than top end.

Most of these guys were Dawgs in college. A few were good starters.

Id take all of these guys.

I get what OP is getting at. I've made threads on this topic. I'd take wide receivers with height. Especially being the ACC. Those 6'4" WRs just play up in this conference because most of our conference teams have small corners. Pluck 1 or 2 of those 6'3" WRs every year. You'll get more Isaiah Hortons than Darrell Langham (and Langham has an all time catch here). ACC is littered with those types every year.

JaCorey Brooks is balling and is just a mismatch every week despite being limited in the same way as he was at Bama. I recommended we sign him for thIis very reason.

FSU and Clemson made them staples of ACC Championship teams. Wake is good for one every year. Louisville.

But every year it's filled with tall boys.

WRs in TE bodies every year too. Gadsen, Mallory, Woods, Bell at FSU. Little cheat codes for production in this conference. Always a mismatch because very few LBs can cover. And at 6'5" good luck. Mallory couldn't catch, but got open in this conference with ease. Brevin too.

Im personally not to high on him but if Josh Moore succeeds at Miami it would/should be at the jumbo slot role being a mismatch.

This roster needs a truly dynamic playmaker (we don't have one right now), but this graph caught my attention. Craftsmanship, quicks, hands and play strength are still most important at WR.
I think it was Michael Irvin who said: no WR who ran a 4.3 or 4.2 at the Combine is in the NFL Hall of Fame. None.

We need a dynamic playmaker or two at WR. I’d take two in the Portal. Would love great speed as well. But speed alone does not guarantee playmaking skills,.

Ex. Our current kick and punt returners have excellent speed. But, they have exhibited zero playmaking abilities.

Although perhaps two of the top 3 ultimate outliers, Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss ran 4.3s at the combine. Mike's comments may have been made before that happened.

Him becoming Richards was my way of saying no matter what he does even production wise he’s probably not a high round draft pick. He won’t test well to get the extra boost he needs. And I don’t think it’s a lock for him to be wr1 next year.

Great points. Those guys were big and could fly. I don’t know when Irvin made his comment.

I don’t see why he’d stay.

He’s a 3rd/4th round guy right now.

Physically, he’s not going to improve much more. And if it statistical accolades he’d come back for, that’s also at risk with the change in QB.

I don’t see a reasonable situation that he would come back to school for outside of winning a conference or national title.
No chance he’s a 3/4 round guy right now. Like no way. If he comes back yeah maybe the qb isn’t as good but he will be option 1

How would any of that translate to him being close to a day 2 or even early day 3 pick then? Thats what makes no sense
