In Your Opinion..(NCAA Ruling)

It's good and bad IMO.

It's good because clearly they are having trouble hitting us with concrete stuff. It's bad though because they are clearly still trying and digging. They aren't going to just let us walk at this point.

Pretty sure this is the last bye week until the end of the season.

Complete bull**** if they don't deliver it this week.

November is five ******* months. That's gotta be a record.

I know it's all how you look at things but God who in their right mind would look at it like they are letting us walk? I think we have been hammered already. I hope they come out with a long list of sanctions and say Miami self imposed all theses things and the case is over.

I agree. I am the one who used to ***** when people would talk about "skating"

We have been ****ed over completely already and the NCAA should let us walk. But they ain't going to.

Dont think for a minute they are sitting back and watching us thrive again, ranked, undefeated, and that isnt ****ing them off.

There are a lot of stakeholders in the NCAA's decision that might not be obvious to some, but the NCAA decision will have far reaching influence because, for example, as far as recruiting is concerned a loss for us is a gain for someone else and everyone knows how important SF is to CFB recruiting. A healthy or unencumbered UM means a potential shift in the balance of power in CFB away from the SEC, which as it stands today is the NCAA's cash cow. I think the implications are obvious.

I also think it would be naive in the extreme with so much at stake to think that the reason this has taken so long is the NCAA investigators can't figure out how many UM players actually got a free meal at Benihana. The problem as I see it is that the NCAA is dancing with the SEC but has drifted into the middle of a legal minefield with snow skies on and is stuck.

I could be wrong but I truly believe that the NCAA is currently looking at ways to get out from under the UM investigation. They tried to white-wash it with their own internal pseudo-investigation but the media sniffed that out. The EA sports law suit is going to hurt the NCAA financially. Moreover, the sports media is now solidly against the NCAA at every turn of the coin.

My guess is that the NCAA comes out with a grand plan of sorts. They are going to have admit to some wrong doing, that will facilitate a reformation plan.

Dont be surprised if/when Hillary is selected president of the United States in 2016 if you see Donna retire from UM and take a job on capitol hill providing congressional oversight of the NCAA. That would be the highest form of eff-you to Mark Emerett. lol

I agree with this angle and felt that we saw it first hand w/r/t the USC case. Under Pete Carroll USC had single-handedly destroyed the entire PAC10 simply by dominating socal HS recruiting. Mark Emerett was President of the University of Washington prior to LSU where he left to become head of the NCAA. I had no doubt that they went hard at USC in order to restore balance to the pac 10.

Only USC and Miami present this type problem for the NCAA. Look at the growth of dominance of the SEC. It came during the Shan-Coker years. Bennu is on-point. The NCAA wants and to an extent NEEDS a weak Miami and weak USC in order to provide balance to the sport. The problem I have is that the SEC has over-done it and there does not seem to be a desire within the NCAA to take them down a peg.

We'll see.

Agreed. But that still doesnt change the content of my post. She is currently the likely winner of the 2016 election and her drinking buddy is the president of UM.

I think they are going to try and cripple Miami w/ harsh scholarship sanctions, thats what worries me the most.

i think the decision has been made a while ago... they are working on the wording and the fall out either way

Not worried about it at all. The NCAA completely ****ed themselves and don't have a leg to stand on. They have done so poorly even the media who wanted to see the program burn has changed their tune and calling the BS for what it is. Miami will absolutely destroy them in court and they know it. The only play they have left is stalling and allowing the black cloud to linger as long as they possibly can.

If they try and punish further Miami wins. If they slap on the wrist Miami wins. Now it's time to sit back and watch Golden continue to build this monster that's going to win lot's of championships.

What I HOPE, is that the reason this has taken so long, is that the NCAA is going to try something different this time in enforcement. Im hoping that their own bad behavior and blunders, coupled with the rather unique situation here, leads them to SORT of let us "skate" by going after the coaches who were involved in this, without hammering the school, and punishign players that had nothing to do with this.

The fact is, Shapiro was a loose cannon, and despite the fact that members of our Administration and even the HC tried to keep this guy away, he lured young, economically disadvantaged young men to hang out with him by throwing money around. This guy was a predator, and there is only so much ANY institution can do to protect itself from a guy like that. What we hopefully argued was: You cant blame us for an animal like that. That could happen to anyone. Even you.

By taking a "different approach" the NCAA kills two birds with one stone. They end this nightmare, for both sides, with minimal sanctions and everyone more or less pleased, while also looking like they are doing "SOMETHING" which might actually HAVE the ability to stop this kind of sh*t. Maybe a 1-2 year ban for the coaches found guilty of violations. Now THAT would send a message, not punishing a school where none of these guys are at anymore, while the perpetrators all go on their merry way.

I think the NCAA is trying to find their credibility and integrity...neither of which they have. So I'm thinking it's going to be few more months before they figure that out.

I think they are angry that we self imposed when the team was crappy and losing those games in the grand scheme meant nothing.

Now we are on a huge upswing and they are flaccid and impotent.
