In honor of Veteran's Day

Yes, I can. We have been at war for over 10 years and there are hundreds of thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines that have fought bravely during that time...and everyone of them volunteered. This is my sixth deployment and I'm still in awe of their outstanding performance and dedication to duty.

Completely different scenario. The Germans were a war machine. These BS wars the US has been in over the past decade are nothing in comparison. This war on terror is nothing but a fabricated lie to go steal natural resources. WWII was like Mike Tyson Vs Ali. The war on terror is Mike Tyson vs Peter Buckley. There is no threat in the middle east. The US is the threat.

Having said that... Thanks to all those who have served our country.

I don't agree with your post picksix. Just because you don't agree with the reason we are at war shouldn't take away from the bravery and hardships endured by our men and women serving over seas. They (we) volunteer to do the job (war) we are told to do, not pick and choose which job we want. Very vew Americans (around 1%) volunteer for this job so others can enjoy the freedoms granted by this Great Nation. I've had many friends injured and a few killed in this war. You don't take out your political views on the person doing the job. If you don't like the job the politicians picked for them, elect new politicians.

You can agree or disagree with me all you want to. I'm entitled to my opinion. These BS wars in the middle east have nothing to do with affording anybody freedoms by this great nation. No nation in the middle east is a threat to this great nation. It's propaganda at it's finest driven down our throats by the fascists at home who strip us of more and more of our rights on the daily. Those volunteers took an oath to uphold the Constitution not follow orders from douchebags.

There is no use electing new politicians when they're all bought and paid for by super PACS. Welcome to corporate fascism. Those WWII vets were fighting much of what is going on right here at home right now.

Trying to compare WWII and the war on terror is a complete joke. They claim 6,251 troops have died since the start of the war on terror in 2001. They estimate over 9,000 troops lost their lives on D-Day alone in WII. No comparison....

Ok I can kinda see where you're coming from, but then you talk about soldiers dying. You talk about it like, how I would talk about national championships to nole fan. The Canes have 5 national championships. You guys have 2. There is no comparison. So if 9,000, 10,000, 20,000 soldiers died since 2001 then you could compare it? smh
And I agree with sandman. Veterans' Day isnt about politics. It isnt about Obama, Bush, Romney, The Tea Party, how republicans and democrats act towards each other. This is about our brave soldiers.

Buc is correct. I started this after reading about an amazing WWII soldier on Veteran's Day weekend. No doubt many brave Americans have died for political mistakes, but that doesn't make any of them from Lexington to Helmund province less brave.

The courage that so many of those men is incomprehensible. They were kids for the most part. Not to go on a rant, but can you imagine that happening today?

Thanks to all those who served and gave so much and go nothing in return.

I will attach the Oath of Enlistment again so maybe you can read it this time. But then again, you obviously know EVERYTHING you're talking about right!? Although I must say, you are correct about one thing. "Douchebags" is not in the Oath.

BTW, never once have I said or implied that you are unpatriotic because you do not support the War on Terror.

Picksix, always good to hear the shout down from the higher moral elevations. What's it like up there? The Boston bomber and his 911 heroes say hi. You a fan of alternative history books? I bet you're a big hit with your military family members. You certainly are amusing the vets and their supporter's here! Thanks for the laughs.

But you sound bitter, so many people lack your unique perspective. You should go to a country that better suits you, it is unlikely you will ever convince lesser folk here about your righteousness. Ever consider a career as a peace ambassador to the Taliban? You could star in one of their movies. Just don't let your new role get to your head.

I did get with my son on Skype and read your posts to him. He was unimpressed.

(Mods, please accept my apology for allowing myself to be baited into this conversation that has little to do with Canes football. I am grateful for the respectful posts appreciating our veterans as we approach Veterans Day)

I will now ban myself until Tuesday.

Picksix is the kind of candyass that has read a few Leninist papers, memorized entire sections word for word, and ingested the phraseology for the sole purpose of repetition.

Learned by rote, repeated by rote. Nuttier than a squirrel ****. And of course, I'm entitled to my opinion too.

We had these folks when there was a draft, and I can tell you first hand, they're as useful as henschitt on a pump handle. Without the courage to serve, they hate those who do, and resort to demeaning insults to compensate for their own cowardice. Not everyone who doesn't or didn't serve are in that category by any means, but you can sure pick the candyasses out by their rhetoric.

We all know that contrary to a statement like, "my whole family serve(s)(d)" is total BS, because if that were true, one or more would have strangled him with his own panties.

But, that's the price the military pays - defending the good, the bad, the ugly, and as in this case, the stupid.

And I'll apologize if it hurts your feelings for calling you stupid. I thought you already knew.

Sandman, you're much too generous with someone you couldn't pick out of a sack full of sphincters.

Archer, you sound like a great man! I greatly appreciate your service as well. Unfortunately, POS's like P6 will never fully understand what it takes, or what it means to serve. Most who don't serve can and do understand, they just aren't as ignorant. If I got all up in arms over crap like this I'd either be dead or in jail. Unfortunately, this is more and more becoming the norm these days. I appreciate all who continue to serve. Thank you and wish you all a blessed Veteran's Day.
