In honor of Veteran's Day

Yes, I can. We have been at war for over 10 years and there are hundreds of thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines that have fought bravely during that time...and everyone of them volunteered. This is my sixth deployment and I'm still in awe of their outstanding performance and dedication to duty.

The courage that so many of those men is incomprehensible. They were kids for the most part. Not to go on a rant, but can you imagine that happening today?

Thanks to all those who served and gave so much and go nothing in return.

Completely different scenario. The Germans were a war machine. These BS wars the US has been in over the past decade are nothing in comparison. This war on terror is nothing but a fabricated lie to go steal natural resources. WWII was like Mike Tyson Vs Ali. The war on terror is Mike Tyson vs Peter Buckley. There is no threat in the middle east. The US is the threat.

Having said that... Thanks to all those who have served our country.

I didn't know that it all seemed so real to me at the time, in the decade of the sixties (thanks for including within the worthy), as it does to my sons, especially the one who has survived multiple combat tours as a shooter and continues to serve in Kuwait today, he can pass on your opinion to the people of that country who did not know there was no threat when Saddam's forces invaded, and so real to my family members who served.

Kindly point me to who voted for, financed and continue to finance the "BS wars," and where exactly are those stolen resources kept? It's all in the congressional record.

But thanks anyways for the left-handed compliment, my son would still buy you a beer and talk Canes football with you, and he would not make you uncomfortable with the ugliness of what he's seen as a sapper.

You're welcome.

My apologies if I offended any current service members, that was not my intent. I was speaking more to the fact that many were drafted in or joined on their own accord. I'm not sure we'd have a big rush to join if something like this happened again.

Not really offended, since I am not a current service member. Can't speak for anyone else. I should be speaking on Skype during the next half hour or so, I'll pass on your comments. I think my son, who joined of his own accord, and has only a couple of years to retirement will give you a pass too. He knows where you're coming from.

BTW your WWII and today boxing analogy is flawed. Ali is the guy blowing **** up today, and unlike what would happen if captured by Ali's fellow believers surviving captivity by the Germans was possible. ;-)

I believe this is the most retarded concept I ever heard.

Only a non-soldier would ever make such completely ignorant statements.

Soldiers don't get to pick their wars. Even a dumbass can walk through our Revolutionary War Stone Gardens, Civil War Stone Gardens, and every other one to this day, and you can see that the names are the same. The mindset was the same. The cost was the same. The sacrifices were the same.

So the British bayonet was preferred over the IED? More deadly? The Tower Rifle was much deadlier than the AK?

You may want to stick to threads you have a lot of intuition and experience with - like cooking threads.

Lot's of good points here LOL! Once upon I time I suffered under the fantasy that I could get only the cool assignments like England, Italy, Germany, Spain, instead I got sent to places with open sewers, snakes, and very large insects.

I am not offended by your post, but slightly by Picksix. Only slightly because this isn't the first time I've ran in to such ignorance. I believe that Chuckles is referring to Picksix's comment as well, since you didn't make the Ali analogy. I understand where you're coming from concerning the draft. And I agree with you, those boys, and men (women too) were then and still are very courageous.

I don't agree with your post picksix. Just because you don't agree with the reason we are at war shouldn't take away from the bravery and hardships endured by our men and women serving over seas. They (we) volunteer to do the job (war) we are told to do, not pick and choose which job we want. Very vew Americans (around 1%) volunteer for this job so others can enjoy the freedoms granted by this Great Nation. I've had many friends injured and a few killed in this war. You don't take out your political views on the person doing the job. If you don't like the job the politicians picked for them, elect new politicians.

You can agree or disagree with me all you want to. I'm entitled to my opinion. These BS wars in the middle east have nothing to do with affording anybody freedoms by this great nation. No nation in the middle east is a threat to this great nation. It's propaganda at it's finest driven down our throats by the fascists at home who strip us of more and more of our rights on the daily. Those volunteers took an oath to uphold the Constitution not follow orders from douchebags.

There is no use electing new politicians when they're all bought and paid for by super PACS. Welcome to corporate fascism. Those WWII vets were fighting much of what is going on right here at home right now.

Trying to compare WWII and the war on terror is a complete joke. They claim 6,251 troops have died since the start of the war on terror in 2001. They estimate over 9,000 troops lost their lives on D-Day alone in WII. No comparison....

I was fortunate to meet and talk with Medal of Honor winner Adm Buckley. Won it for rescuing MacArthur from the Philipines. Some great stories from a great man. Proud to have served this country with some incredible warriors! Will be celebrating the lives of those that never came home and nobody knows why. But we the few know and we the few carry on. God bless them all.

The only easy day was yesterday!

LOL! Don't get ****ed because I don't subscribe to this BS war on terror. Only an idiot would volunteer to put themselves in harms way for these scumbags calling the shots over the past decade long war with no end in sight. People like you say I don't support the war so I don't support the troops. I say BS, I support the troops by wanting them to return home to be with their families rather than being pawns for greedy scumbags.

War is a racket...

Ok I can kinda see where you're coming from, but then you talk about soldiers dying. You talk about it like, how I would talk about national championships to nole fan. The Canes have 5 national championships. You guys have 2. There is no comparison. So if 9,000, 10,000, 20,000 soldiers died since 2001 then you could compare it? smh
And I agree with sandman. Veterans' Day isnt about politics. It isnt about Obama, Bush, Romney, The Tea Party, how republicans and democrats act towards each other. This is about our brave soldiers.

My entire family is military. My hats off to all of our service people on Veterans Day. But until everybody starts calling a spade a spade with the BS we're witnessing in this country the ship will not get back on course. I refuse to recite verbatim the propaganda that's being force fed to us by the "leaders" of this nation. The War on Terror is a ******* scam.

We fight the war on terror on their soil so you don't have to fight it on ours!!!

Give me a break! Have to admit it has a nice ring to it but that's complete BS. The US is meddling where it doesn't belong. Why are we there again? Is it ruthless dictators or weapons of mass destruction? Are we nation building and spreading democracy this month? Or is it back to fighting Al- Qaeda? Oh wait, now we're funding Al-Qaeda to destabilize a new region in the Middle East?

Nothing but a big pile of BS! Bring the focking troops home and quit meddling where we don't belong. We're creating more enemies than we ever had with this BS war on terror.

But here is the thing. However you felt yesterday and however you will feel tomorrow about our government doesn't matter. On this day, on November/9/2013 you put your feeling about our government aside. Whether its a soldier that fought in the Civil War or a soldier that will be fight 30 years from now, we give thanks. We give it no matter how we feel about the wars.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. This great nation is beginning to look more and more like **** Germany that we fought to get rid of. The war on terror has come home to roost. And if you don't support it then we have the volunteers patriots to tell us how we're unpatriotic. Spying at home, homeland security, TSA. Just keeping us safe right wink, wink? I feel safer already...

Now come collect our guns and keep us safe from ourselves.

These "idiots" do not put their life on the line for the people calling the shots. They do it for you and me. They do it so we could be fortunate enough to watch one more Canes game. Those idiots puts their body between a bullet and America.

As proud of all of us who serve and will serve it a calling that not many can answer.
