Im still happy about where we are at

Yes, but if it was us, we'd still be defining our season by having lost to NIU.

We're already 2 wins ahead of where we were last year. We got very lucky with Cam Ward. We're not where we need to be yet, but we're still building. Look how many portal players are starting and you can see where we still need to build depth.

We may not win it all this year, but it's been a great season so far. Enjoy the ride.
You need to develop players too you can’t rely on the portal. Look at FSU for example. Look at Miami in 2020 when they had King Phillips and Roche. Then the next year they went what 7-5? Without Ward Mario is on the hot seat right now because this season would have been disastrous.

Cool I don’t give a **** what you or anyone else ******* thinks on this board. You all are sitting here trying to think positive but when in reality this team just lost to a 5-4 team and has the worst d in the country with a HC who is a choke artist.

Not trying to be a downer on ya bro, but clearly you do give a ****, in fact, lots of *****, about what everyone on here thinks otherwise you wouldn't be posting the same thing over and over and responding to them and getting even more worked up when they disagree with you.

That's my point. When you look at the defense specifically, you can see where recruiting is coming into play Bain, Frederique, Patterson. And you can see where we had to rely on the portal because it takes time to get quality players recruited and developed.

The future looks bright. We need more key players on defense, and we'll need a solid QB, but if the two lines are solid, we'll be just fine without Ward. He's been a joy to watch, but he's not Mario's Jordan Travis.

I’m happy with where we’re at - we’re 9-1 and should make the ACCCG.

If we don’t, then this season turns into a failure quick given how it’s all shaken out. You can’t use the preseason data points in terms of wins and everyone’s opinion in September when the current scenario of us missing the ACCCG would involve losing to two fringe top 40 teams in three weeks. That would be the sign of a team peaking too early and proper regression kicking in.

But it’s also important to have context and realize that no singular player has had more of an impact on a team’s W/L in the entire country than Cam Ward. I am thankful every day we convinced him to come to Miami. The rest of the team minus a few skill players on offense, is not where it needs to be in Year 3. That in itself is disappointing, and we’ve let Cam down in that regard.

Hopefully he can carry us to an ACCCG (we’d still be favored over SMU by 5-7 points by the way, that’s what our models project).

Whats the scenario if SMU drops an ACC game and Clemson beats Pitt. And we win out. 3 teams finish 7-1 in conference?

SMU beat louisville, clemson did not. Depends on who SMU loses to. If its virginia, it would then go to opponent acc win percentage. If not, SMU owns the tiebreaker at common acc opponent.

Im too lazy to add up acc opponent win percentage, but I think it would be us vs. clemson if smu loses to virginia. Otherwise, us vs. SMU

All of us would've signed up for 9-1 to start the year but the way we lost that game, being severely outcoached just makes you worry like crazy. Even if the next two opponents are who they are. The loss also hurts from a positioning standpoint in the playoffs had we just kept going.

Having said that, i've sat through two decades of unholy **** and i'm not gonna get too distraught over one loss - if we can keep it that way. We gotta finish these two **** games up like we can and finish off the early recruiting period like we can.

glad someone said it - preseason fckn PREDICTIONS have ZERO to do with where we are in REALITY now.

What does virgina have to do with it? We didnt play virgina. Only common opponent is louisville and SMU and us beat them. So SMU and miami pretty much unless we lose one or SMU loses 2. Correct??

Obviously with the Pitt loss, we are in the exact same position we were going into the Ga Tech game making the game somewhat irrelevant. Of course, there are a lot of questions especially on the defense but this season is more exciting than we could have anticipated and the brand will get stronger because of it. We will beat WF, no question. Have a slight concern with Syracuse because I just get the feeling they are going to put together their best game of the year like every other team we have played this year with the exceptions of a few and make it another nail biter. Cam and the offense is just too good to lose both of those games imo. I also think we have a solid shot in the ACCCG as we will be favored over anyone we play. 4 seed is still in play. LETS GO!!!
