no one looks there. They just assume it's a store with only Makers, Woodford, etc. And it is if you just look on the shelf, but never hurts to ask. Everyone is lined up at Total Wine, Luekens, and the better local stores, they overlook the stores tied to major store chains. Winn Dixie and Walmart get it too, and also don't mark it up. Had better luck at Walgreens though. Walmart and Walgreens (at least by me) keep an open spot on the shelf with the sticker price for ER, as if they just ran out or something. That's what got me asking to begin with.
 
The duty free at Ft Lauderdale Intl had 8 bottles Blanton's on the shelf for $140 a month ago when I flew in for the FSU game. I won't pay that much for it but if you're having a hard time finding it...

The Trace Tour was really cool yesterday, wish I had more time but I was driving home after being gone since July . I swung by Woodford to check out their gift shop but didn't tour the distillery. Buffalo Trace definitely has a cool vibe, wish I could have taken the full tour. Walked away with a bottle of Weller and E. L. Taylor for $75 so it was a win.

I'll try to post some pics later, my Android pushed a big update a few days ago and ever since posting pics and even quoting messages has been super glitchy.

Yeah $140 is just too **** much. Blantons is my personal favorite bourbon but it’s just not that good to justify that. Sad.

Definitely excited for the tours. Buffalo Trace and Weller for sure, Woodford, Michters, OF likely as well. Think we will be there for 3 days so we will see.

Heaven Hill makes great bourbon too. I’m a huge Elijah Craig Barrel Proof and McKenna 10 fan .

McKenna 10 absolutely one of my favorites. I’ve only found one in a store in my life but I have some friends up in Minnesota that get it pretty easily and will ship it to me

Awesome cause it’s definitely not easy to find after they won that whiskey of the year award . Last bottles of it I bought were thanks to a tip from @No_Fly_Zone

Do you like the higher proof stuff also or prefer to stay around the 100 proof ? If you don’t mind the higher proof ECBP is hands down the best . I like Bookers a lot , though it’s a bit hit or Miss with the batches , but prefer ECBP.

If you like manhattans try making one with High West Rendezvous Rye or any of the High West Ryes like the Double Rye . Delicious …..personally I like using blood orange bitters with my manhattans .

That McKenna's is getting harder and harder to find, unfortunately. I finished my last bottle and bought myself a $25 pour last week at Timpano's on Las Olas. On the one hand, I felt cheated and ripped off. On the other hand, once that delicious bourbon hit my lips I was pretty happy.

The one that has been having allocated stuff pretty often lately is the Big Daddy’s on Kendall ….think I told you a couple weeks ago they had Eagle Rare for $44.99


Try a Manhattan with High West Rye and blood orange bitters if you haven’t. Guarantee you’ll love it . I just use the cheap Martini & Rossi vermouth .

I've never been a big Manhattan guy but I'll definitely try one with the Rendezous Rye and bitters.

yep. It's weird to me how Weller is treated differently than the other BT products that are allocated to stores all over. The 12 year, and really any Weller other than Special Reserve is vault only at ABC. The whole behind the counter thing is so common that it doesn't really bother me. At least the people I've delt with at ABC don't seem to mind me asking if they have it in, even though they probably get that question 100 times a day. Some places have staff that is clearly annoyed by the questions on allocated bottles.

Low key good store (believe it or not) for Eagle Rare, BT, and Blantons is Walgreens liquors. I've had a lot more success there than any other store for those particular bottles, and they don't mark up prices. Blantons is like $70. It's never going to be on the shelf, but they get those in. Just bought ER there for $35 yesterday, as a matter of fact.

There's a Winn Dixie off 595 in Davie that's really well stocked. I get my BT there.

I've been using regular High West bourbon to make an old fashioned.

Right now I'm using Rittenhouse for manhattans.

Rittenhouse is good but a bit too earthy tasting for me in manhattans .

I haven’t had an old fashioned in a while but I’ll make one soon with the high west , thanks for the tip , brother.
 
Anyone like Elmer T. Lee? Buddy of mine loves it but hasn't been able to find it in forever. I tried to snag a bottle for him yesterday while I was in Lexington but had no luck.

Just curious if it's as good as he makes it seem.

Thanks! I figured its solid, this guys been a bourbon head for a long time, it's his fault I stopped at 6 liquor stores yesterday looking for Weller and Elmer T. lol.

I was surpised to find Weller 12 but none of them had Elmers. Still happy with what I brought home for $75 though.
