If No. 17 Clemson molly whops No. 8 SMU in the ACC championship game ...

the only real shot (and this is bleak bleak) is if texas puts up 60 on UGA and smokes them. not gonna happen esp in atlanta, but thats about it

Speaking of CCG scenarios:

Clemson 21, SMU 20:

Who gets in Bama or the Mustangs?

bama is in no matter what. they didnt put SMU high enough. SMU was playing better than we were all year really and they kept ranking them behind us. they were hoping on us winning the ACC and their problem is solved. when bama didnt move out of range after the OU loss, that was it. they were always gonna get bama back

Gracias, mi amigos

To summarize: So no matter how bad SMU might get beat, Mustangs can fall below No. 11 Alabama in the rankings but they cannot fall below No. 12 Miami? Is there a quote somewhere from the CFP chairman confirming as much?
The chairman explained it last night. He pretty much said any team not playing this weekend will remain at its current seed

Exactly. Slim hopes but there is no set in stone format to the rankings. Literally anything is possible.

Just move on man. Miami was sitting at 9-0, in control of its own destiny with 3 games left versus average teams. The Canes were double digit favorites in all of those games and they sh*t the bed, finishing 1-2. If they would have went 2-1 during that stretch, they would finish 11-1 and be in the ACCCG. Mario and company wasted the season of the best QB Miami has had in 20 years.

By this logic, Alabama did it to themselves by losing 24-3 to Oklahoma.

It's ok man, no shame, we all suffer from BCS, Battered Canes Syndrome, to one degree or another. It's the result of decades of an administration that didn't care, which resulted in incompetent coaches, who selected players that should have never worn the uniform.

Let this off season be a time of healing, you know we'll win the off season NC, drink the Kool Aid, listen to all the CIS experts tell us how great so and so will be, plus we get to look forward to the annual traditional firing of another coach who made millions sucking.

Seriously, you care too much, you're a great fan and poster , I'd ride with you any day.

Please stop this nonsense…. Canes had a chance to be in it. They fk’d it up…. Listen , I’ve been following this program for 40 years. I know we have cam and all , but that defense , there’s no way we are winning even one game in CFP. Let Alabama go get embarrassed.. Mario needs to get rid of Guidry, like yesterday ,and plan for the future… Notre Dame is playing really good ball right now ; complete on both sides. No way Bama wins and neither would’ve Miami. Manny from Scarface said it best , “close the shop, mang!! “ lol

They could but they would ultimately stagnate and go under. Unlike the NFL, every college conference is regional. If you look at the viewership for their games it’s largely regional viewership, even for a national broadcast. It’s not like the northeast and most of the east/west coast is gonna all of a sudden become SEC fans. They need the rest of CFB more than they think.
SEC lovefestt started the night Texas beat use that conference got their network started marketing and took off

Committee made it clear that brutal losses don't matter. Hence Bama getting in despite one more loss than us, plus losing to Vandy and getting absolutely destroyed by a .500 Oklahoma team.

... is it set in stone SMU cannot "by rule" fall below No. 12 Miami in the CFP rankings?

The committee chairman confirmed Tuesday night that SMU could drop below No. 11 Alabama: "Potentially, yes," Manuel said. "And they can move above teams, as well. Again, it just depends on the outcome of the game.”

But is that as far as the Mustangs can fall?

Does an 8-0 conference record vs Miami's 6-2 mark prevent SMU from sliding any further in the committee's eyes and thus the CFP door is 100% closed and locked for the Canes (even though the teams didn't play one another and both would have two losses)?

1. Oregon (12-0) .. IN
2. Texas (11-1) ... IN
3. Penn State (11-1) ... IN
4. Notre Dame (11-1) ... IN
5, Georgia (10-2) ... IN
6. Ohio State (10-2) ... IN
7. Tennessee (10-2) ... IN
8. SMU (11-1) ... Work to do?
9. Indiana (11-1) ... IN
11. Alabama (9-3) ... IN?
MWC champion (Top G5): No. 10 Boise State (11-1) or No. 20 UNLV (10-2)
Big XII champion: No. 15 Arizona State (10-2) or No. 16 Iowa State (10-2)
- - - - -
12. Miami (10-2)

Canes are the first team out ... but could we pass SMU if Clemson beats them very decisively, by say 2-3 TD's or more?

(SIAP)
You would need Texas to run Georgia out of the Stadium.
