I'm from the Ranches, Davin graduated with my niece, I've known him since he was a git. He was a big *** git.
On junior day, pictures were sent out with the ideal height weights of each position on the line straight from Searles on Twitter.
Somebody should be able to find them again
It really does depend on what you want to schematically. Clearly scoring points is the ultimate goal! Anyways two of my favorite tackles from Miami have been Winton and Fox. I believe they are both 6'7ish! I actually like the idea of taking a big tightend and beefing them up a little. I think leaving high school in the 6'4-6'7 240-260 range is where I want my guys coming in at the tackle spot.
Id like my guards to be about 6'3-6'5 in the 260-290 range out of high school.
Center 6'2-6'3 275ish
Yeah, I like those two guys as well. My man is Bryant McKinnie and Eric Flowers. I think UM has done pretty well developing those big guys 6'7 - 6'8 over the years.
I can't wait to see the first 7'1 325 lb LT with a 7 foot 7 wingspan and good feet. You think they are paying LT ridiculous money now, wait til you see this guy in pads!

Can he also play DT?

He would be horrible. Ends would run right under and around himI can't wait to see the first 7'1 325 lb LT with a 7 foot 7 wingspan and good feet. You think they are paying LT ridiculous money now, wait til you see this guy in pads!

Yes Motekiai Langi can play Defensive Tackle at 6'7" 410lbs!

Actually, these are the measurements of Shaquille O'neal when he was at LSU. He was arguably one of the better athletic Big Men of his size. I think Shaq would have made it hard for these little DE to get around him and I don't think a bull rush would've work on him.
Too tall, too big is only relative to the era that you are in. The evolution of football players have gotten bigger, faster, and taller over the years. One day their will be 6'6 WR running 4.3's and 6'10 linemen that can move. The evolution of the player will continue to get better because each generation gets better nutrition and we haven't seen the best of this gene pool. JMO.

Ok, but a 7'1" OT ain't blocking Von Miller.
I dont think a olineman that tall would be flexible enough to keep ends from dipping and rippingToo tall, too big is only relative to the era that you are in. I think you maybe only focusing on the height. Von would have to deal with a 7'7 wing span against a OT that has good leverage. That's the adjustment that defenses would have to make technique wise to defeat that type of player. Just think for a minute, no one knew how to incorporate the use of big mobile QBs. When OCs finally figured it out now defenses are now scrambling to find a scheme to defeat it. Same was true when Randy Moss came on the scene with his height, speed and quickness. Defenses had to adjust and find taller, quicker corners that could run. Trust me an OT of Shaq's size, good feet and technique would change the game. Bet if he showed up today OCs would probably make him a TE.
Saw Bryant Mckinnie and Vernon Carey last night....BEHEMOTHS.
Crazy but Vernon looks in better shape than he did when he played.
I played tackle undersized....but I can take a prototypical tackle at about 6'4 280-290. Im bias since I was a small guy but I like my tackles to have feet...and flexibility. There are still some dancing bears out there with good feet.
What totally confused me about um was their recruitment of behemoths..yet wanting to run a zone blocking scheme....Like why have Dogwu out there trying to reach block and get to the second level. Gall etc...Kehoe really fell off.
Also im a fan of getting guys that played DL to switch over to OL at times...can be productive..
MORO = Paranos....
It would be a laugher seeing Shaq try to block a guy like Von Miller. Or a guy like Cam Wake/Olivier Vernon...as athletic as Shaq is....
those guys ability to get small and bend a corner is SCARY..and a guy 7'1 Cannot get down or reach out to impede that...
Mckinnie at his height was a beast imo...for the simple fact he shouldn't have been able to do it...but he handled guys like Freeney pretty well..which I think had more to do with his smarts, and anticipation. The minute his technique fell off as he got older and weight ballooned he became a sieve almost.

That's the thing Goget4. As a LT and you know playing that position the DE first job is to keep you from putting your hands on him. And a man with a 7'7 wing span will have at least a foot and half reach advantage on you. I believe it was Curley Hallman at LSU at the time that was trying his best to get Shaq to play LT. I think Curley also believed Shaq had the ability to bend with these little guys. But none the less you have to admit that is going to be impressive to see? That's what freaks of nature do.
