Ideal OL Height and Weight

Davin Joseph was built like a man in HS. Didnt he win the state title in wrestling in the highest weight classification? Was one of the kids that randomly chose OU. We get one of those every 5 years or so down here. (Stockar McDougle was the first one for a min when he went there.) Yes he was a man.

Agree that stars dont tell the whole story. I also think you have to have an "insane/mentally off" chip in our head to be a great OLineman. Outgoing kids scare me. Kids who are too "jolly" scare me. Its not an exact science but give me the kid who doesnt say much but has that look of death in his eyes. That natural skowl. A kid who wants to start a fight every once in a while on the field or off. Leon Searcy had it. So did McKinnie. Vernon Carey too.

We should have known we were in trouble with last years oline when the infamous "team picture" photos surfaced and our Oline guys were the main ones clownin around. Smh.

I have faith in the future of our oline because of Richts focus on toughness and some of the guys we are bringing in.

Davin Joseph was 6't" 277lbs coming out of hs. He was the national champ in wrestling in heavyweights his junior year. I went to middle school and hs with him. He has always been a monster. Miami wasnt recruiting him. Smh😔

Are you sure? Because I remember a general gnashing of teeth when he picked Oklahoma. He said the reason was they also had wrestling and were willing to let him do that in college too.

Went to ou because of chance at wrestling. You got it correct. Hallandale had another kid just as big as David too. He went to Michigan state.

Too tall, too big is only relative to the era that you are in. The evolution of football players have gotten bigger, faster, and taller over the years. One day their will be 6'6 WR running 4.3's and 6'10 linemen that can move. The evolution of the player will continue to get better because each generation gets better nutrition and we haven't seen the best of this gene pool. JMO.

Oh so you must mean today's football players because didn't UM's own Tommy Streeter run a sub 4.4 second 40 time and he was 6'5"+ I believe. And there was Randy Moss. So those big fast WR are already here.

Go Canes

Let me rephrase. He was being recruited by miami but miami's recruiting efforts were nowhere near what other schools were. At the time we were recruiting nationally and there would be long periods between communication. He said he would have looked into them more if there was a better relationship. He is a very smart guy and was a smart kid. He wouldnt bash his hometown school.

Exactly! Even the the height, size, speed and quickness of those two players are still considered freakish today. But within a 20 years it will be as common as 6'3 and 6'4 WR's.

Most people don't really understand what goes down in the trenches. Therefore this part of the game is often missed by the average person watching a football game. To most the game is won by the guys that play the positions that put up the numbers and makes the highlight reels on ESPN. But to me the game is won in the trenches and it is more important than QB, RB, TE and WR. The Big Guys have to push that sled all game rain or shine. Broken fingers, bloody arms, legs and concussions. If you can walk put some ice on it and get your *** back in there!

If, someone here doesn't understand what goes on in the trenches win games, they don't know $#!+ about football.
