I don't agree with some personnel decisions he's made but I do believe Mario is the best fit for today's climate and talent acquisition and building this program into a yearly staple in the soon to be 14 team playoff.

I also believe that the big Columbus boosters are going to give him more than any other coach at the helm so he's our best chance all things considered IMHO.

Yes, ultimately he's responsible for the Charmin defense we had out there all season but he was also responsible for the offensive turnaround after the colossal Gattis failure as well.
Mario's no Don Shula, but after year 3 this program is objectively better positioned than it has been in 2 decades.

If Mario flops next year and doesn’t win 10 games his seat will start getting hotter, following year could decide his future, that would be year 5

He has a massive off season that will dictate his future, he might have to make 2 coordinator hires, which means multiple position coaches

The question is, will he let his coordinators make their own hires or will he force certain guys on him like Beard, Taylor, Nicholson, Mirabel?

It’s a pretty important point. I said from Day 1 I wasn’t a big Mario fan BUT he would be given every chance to implement his plan

Whether that plan would work or not was up for debate but for years we just had such a dysfunctional *** scattered bull**** program at least we laid a foundation for once

Osu fans want Day’s head for losing to Michigan once again but they constantly win 10 plus and are in big games. While Miami has had their second 10 win season since 2017 and has never won the ACC. And you got this idiot of an HC who can’t beat Ga Tech UNC Cuse etc.

Bottom line, we still lose to teams we shouldn’t. This means we still operate below expectations. We never play above our pay grade. We just are never smart enough. We don’t come in as the underdog and win. We barely scrape by as the favorite, or lose as the favorite. That’s an ugly 10 wins, it’s meaningless and doesn’t feel that good.

Without Cam, Vtec and Cal would have been losses. Maybe Louisville too.

On the other hand, Mario did bring Cam to Miami. Ten wins is good enough for most coaches to keep their jobs. What has the guy at Penn State accomplished? Loses year after year to OSU. OSU lost today as a heavy favorite against Michigan. Lane Kiffan bringing a Natty to Ole Miss? I don't think so.

This is what I would like to see from coaching staff. 1. Mario stays, recruits like heck on both sides of the ball, and imposes discipline on team 2. Mario hires new DC. 3. Mario lets the OC and DC handle game preparation and play calling.

His stupidity is thinking he can win with Defense and Special Teams which are barely Div 2 level. Honestly it shows he has barely any coaching IQ.

why can't super Mario stick to what he's good at ? recruiting. He doesn’t deserve to be fired, but this season can go up in a puff of smoke, if he can’t get a high caliber QB in the portal again. He’s also got another issue on his hands that he can’t ignore and it will be used as gigantic negative recruiting issue, the DC. The kids we were fighting to flip on the defensive side of the ball, particularly the DBs, aren’t coming here to play for Guidry, so there’s no salvaging that, but if he wants a chance in the portal he has to make a change.

he has to hire a a good DC and let him bring his staff with him or let him hire his own staff...... Mario is a great recruiter & program builder but he needs to recognize his shortcomings get out of the way and let your staff make you look good
