I think more and more, we have to recalibrate what is a 'great' defense. To me, it's now all about how effective you are in the red-zone. Many teams will now run up and down between the 20s and put up huge yardage numbers. So the question becomes, which D's will force FG's instead of allowing TD's. Also, turnovers, of course...
Very true. It's an offensive game these days. Period. No way around it. You have to be opportunistic, force some turnovers, get some red zone stops, and, most importantly, have answers with your own offense. Teams will get yards. That's just reality. Of course, you don't want them getting 500 every week, but they will get yards.
