When I opened this thread, I thought you were going to break us off with a little preview of the remix.

but instead he gave us..... "some of that pee pee...some that poo poo.."
*shrug* agree. disagree. Approve. Disapprove. I remain unrustled.

Your post is as much an opinion as mine and both amount to quote "some of that pee*pee... Some of that poo poo"
😂😂😂😂 self proclaimed cool kids

Talent + age and experience will equal much better results than young talent alone. Until now we've had to rely on young, inexperienced talent. That is changing in a hurry on D. Enjoy the ride.
When you are out-matched schematically, the only thing that will make you look good is talent. Duke is not more talented that we are, they are better coached. They did not need 5stars all the way across the board to make it to the ACCCG. I get tired of hearing people say that we have to have more talent to win in this conference. It's a copout. If you as a coach need an all-american ladened roster to win the coastal, the problem is not the talent, it's either the scheme, coaching or both.

I agree, but at the same time we had experienced players last year and were more talented than Duke even without #8, yet they had a great season and we did not. What caused this outcome?

I don't see any argument on this point. We had juniors, seniors and 5th year seniors all over the front 7, many of whom, while not that talented by UM standards, would have at least been on the 2 deep at Duke. We also had 2 senior safeties who would also have been on the 2 deep at Duke. We didn't get blown out by Duke because of talent or experience.

3-4 defenses are always susceptible to those fast tempo spread offenses. typically you have slower linebackers that are pretty much useless in coverage.

Bama has struggled defending spread offenses for a couple years now. They look big and slow against those offenses. Run an up tempo spread and get some accuracy from your QB, and you can own bama. It's Saban's Achilles heel.

That's precisely why he was leading the charge to get the NCAA to ban the no huddle offense under the guise of "player safety."

I need confirmation but they say our D missed top 40 by 7 plays and 73 yds thats a TOP issue.

Who says this, now?

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sportsdata/football/ncaaf/stats/team-total-defense

If we cut down on the D's YPG's by 50 to around 365, we'll be the low-30's. Get it down to around 350ish and we're a top-20 defense.

These stats are not complete. They are missing the bowl game. We were 89th @ 426 a game. Our 3rd down D was atrocious as well as our offense.

Tackling looks like a lost art across the country.

That's what happens when you limit hitting in practice and limit practice time. I expect it to get even worse as time goes on. This player safety propaganda is ruining the game.

I agree to an extent, but football will always be about fundamentals. Depends on what the HC sacrifices time for.

I think more and more, we have to recalibrate what is a 'great' defense. To me, it's now all about how effective you are in the red-zone. Many teams will now run up and down between the 20s and put up huge yardage numbers. So the question becomes, which D's will force FG's instead of allowing TD's. Also, turnovers, of course...
