I can’t defend Manny

You got part of the argument right then used a bad example brother. I do believe overall the admin cares. But they are lost. Dont even understand how to go about correcting the problem. It begins with blake. Until Frenk( who very much cares)realizes that then were gonna be in a spot. On top of that until the bot doesnt allow outside influences to corrupt their allegiance to this program than we got a whole other problem. Cause I know for fact we were committed to doing what we had to do last year at both a.d. & head coach. Than all of a sudden along comes a certain former politician & his yellow brick road(rolodex) then over 2-4 million we became frugal & noncommittal. Meanwhile someone's foot print in the citrus industry has drastically expanded. Far as dabo goes he was night and day to what we did. Yes he was a wr coach but he was in HIGH DEMAND. It is obvious for anyone who has ever spoke to dabo that the man knows his football & he understands what's necessary. He wasnt some hoe *** dude who surrounded himself with people he knew were huge reaches so they couldnt question him. He surrounded himself with established football minds.

There has to be some hope, the guy doesn't become incompetent as a coach is there? He made changes on his defense every year he's been here and now wants to be stubborn about everything?

Yeah. All that staff needed was a new HC, a new OC, new QB Coach, new DC, and new S&C guy.

It’s Ok for us to quit comparing current failures to past failures and looking for the firmer piece of stool to anoint. Richt was washed. Shanny is trash. Either way we were going to continue our downward death spiral.

And for fcks sake, please stop this “we need a Miami guy” **** (not talking about you Dee—that’s just a general statement to this decrepit fanbase and administration). There’s football outside the old Miami trees.

You could also make the argument that from a coaching perspective, what's out there in terms of the Miami trees that would satisfy the inept part of our fanbase - is some of the most toxic and incompetent personnel available.

Golden was a hot name. You liked him and I liked him. Picking coaches is hard.
Yea maybe we need to change the pickers.. these guys have dan mullen interview and they get in their feelings and said he is a big meanie, we no want him at nice miami.. too confident and sounds like he knows what he is doing.. ******* joke from top to bottom

We would be better off if he played CEO but after seeing him on the sidelines, I knew something was off. He was completely burnt out. Richt gave us a gift by stepping down and Flake Shames blew it. I've heard the BOT was ready to buy out Mario's contract but he went to Diaz. Mario wouldn't have worked out either but he would have at least stockpiled talent.

Butch have always been the answer all this time. Truly a shame.
I tried to tell everyone Rickety was showing all the signs of early onset dementia but only a couple guys listened. That poor dude is sick. There’s no question about it.

He’s been outcoached in every FBS game. He has shown no reason why he has a job. This is rock bottom.

No offense, saying this as nicely as possible, but you are such an emotional simpleton with regards to football knowledge.

Ultimately everything goes back to the head guy, but you aren't going to have any kind of success with five first half turnovers. You can't make a QB make those throws and the fumble sucked. Nobody gameplans that and once that happens, you're in scramble mode.

Howard, Jimmy, and Dennis weren't Miami guys when they were hired. It's not just an argument, there is solid precedent.

Good point.

How many programs in the last 15 years of our downspiral have been consistently a top tier program with a great HC? Maybe a couple?

Alabama - obviously Saban is potentially the GOAT

OSU - Urban

UF - only when they had Urban

Oklahoma - Stoops and now Riley

FSU - hit for a little with Jimbo

Clemson - obviously looking like a powerhouse for the foreseeable future with Dabo

UGA - Kirby Smart looks to be the right guy

LSU - decent run with Les Miles and now Coach O

A lot of devoted classic programs have struggled -

Texas - been struggling to find the right guy for years

Michigan - same thing and Harbaugh doesn’t seem to be the guy

USC - been a mess since Pete Carroll left

Nebraska - been a mess for over 20 years

Penn State - James Franklin seems pretty good but prob not the guy to get them over the hump aka beat OSU

Tennessee - absolute mess

If only Urban were available...

I try to like everyone we hire because I hate this fcking feeling. I never said hiring HCs was easy. We just are way too caught up in the same old dumb criteria, and that’s why we always are clamoring for the same 4 tired slugs every time we need a new HC.

When you look deeper at Folden, he was a bad hire. He took a terrible program and eventually made them decent. That’s not the kind of guy to hire. Taking a team from 3 wins to 8 is commonplace. It just takes some good recruiting and organizational skills. Taking an 8 win team to 11 wins and conference titles is much more difficult.

Hire a guy who is either an elite offensive coach like OU did. Or hire an up and coming coach who has dominated at a lower level. Folden was neither of those.

The entire school and fanbase needs a deep cleanse. We need to get out of the Russell Athletics era and quit thinking this area or this program needs some unique touch that only someone within 3 degrees of Jimmy Johnson can provide.

Although he wasn't my first choice by any stretch at the time (I was calling for Patterson incessantly in those grad school days), Folden hoodwinked me with his salesman talk.

One thing bothered me deeply about him and turned out to be the telltale: after he surprised people by winning a few games at Temple, expectations rose and so did the overall talent level on his team. But as soon as they were picked to do something in conference, they couldn't win the tough games to get over the hump. So they improved, but then stagnated. I figured with "Miami talent," he'd get past this issue. Never even came close.

This program is sunk.

All the admin does is react late and then allow football imbeciles to dictate the coaching hires. They listen too much to some of the old players who don’t really study college football.

All they want is a “Miami guy who knows the area” or some other lame **** like that. Those guys don’t even know who the up and coming coaches are. They’re stuck in the Russell Athletics era.

These imbeciles have actually hired coordinators off two failed staffs trying to get the band back together.

We had a nice run, but in 30 years, fans will hear some stat that Miami won 5 NCs, and they’ll be like “****, I had no idea Miami ever had a great football team.”

It’s a wrap. We’re too far gone. We’ll sit around for 3 years with Shanny as HC because that’s what classy schools must do. They must wait at least 3 years before they can correct mistakes. Then, lather, rinse and repeat. They’ll hire Rumph or Baker as HC.
This had ZERO to do with any former players unless you're speaking on j & he wasnt all in on this either. This was strictly admin.

How do you know Frenk very much cares? You think he is a sports aficionado? Based on what?
I wouldnt say hes a sports aficionado at all but he is VERY competitive in everything he does. I base it on the couple of times we've spoke & how I see him each and every time we've been around each other. Trust he doesnt enjoy being a laughing stock. But I dont know if anyone he trusts is in his ear enough to point out the obvious. Blake is like manny in that hes slick. Two doo boys.
