I’m starting to get the sense…

That ACC membership is a recruiting liability.

I’ve heard all of the other reasons/excuses as to why our class didn’t end up where we thought it would, but this seems to be a forgotten one.

There is no way SEC and B1G coaches aren’t telling blue-chip recruits that the ACC is a joke of a conference. They wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t. The narrative is forming and people will soon think of the ACC and Big 12 as closer to the G5 than the Power 2.

Every single 5-star prospect signed with an SEC or B1G program and that’s not a coincidence. With each passing year, it’s going to get harder for Mario to recruit, no matter how well he does on the field.

We have to get the **** out of this conference before we drift off into complete irrelevancy.

If you all have been in the realignment thread, we've had this sense for a while...and we all realize how significant it is haha. Where have you all been? Coming out of college, would you rather play in the AFC, NFC or Canadian league? Not rocket science.

I stopped checking that thread after years of nothing. My bad, I guess.

Definitely was used against us in recruiting, not just UM, but likely all of the conference. However, it's only a narrative and a baseless talking point perpetuated by conflicted media. UGA/GT and South Car/Clemson showed that there is not that wide of a gap between ACC and SEC. BC took Mizzou to the wire early in the season. We smacked UF. Louisville smacked Kentucky. Missing some other results. Top teams in the ACC would also be able to compete with anyone in the B10.

Really unfortunate situation. No idea what happens next for us conference wise. Until the ACC actually implodes and/or we leave it, we simply need to play the hand were being dealt and maximize the conference product. Hate that I am saying this but until that day comes, the ACC does need FSU to figure it out. Can't have a flag pole football school winning 2 games and being an absolute doormat. Encouraging results this year from Syracuse, Duke, and GT. All 3 positioned well moving forward. The NC Triangle schools (aside from Duke) were bad this year. NC St will likely improve next year with CJ Bailey entering year 2 + Doeren has good track record. Pitt fell apart at the end of the year due to injuries but started off well. SMU was great in year 1 and should be a viable winner moving forward. Don't have much hope for Cal and Stanford. If programs like Virginia Tech/Louisville could take another step forward, would enhance the image of the conference.

Best possible destination for Miami is the Big 10. SEC would have the better matchups (ie Florida, UGA, Texas, LSU). But there's no way the SEC lets us in given that they have UF, and could potentially eye FSU as well to keep the Florida market. The Big 10 would also have some good rivalry games though, and we'd be able to offer Florida as a market as well. I'm merely hoping at this point, as the OP pointed out, staying in the ACC is literally hoping that the Titanic doesn't sink.

Do we have an invite? Are Big 10 and SEC going to want us in, when their schools can come down into talent rich state, and lure top talent away using that pitch? They going to also give up more piece of the pie money wise?

How do we get out of the conference though? Clemson tried and it looked impossible.
