How will bond be used?

He will be in the rotation, IMO. As will Figueroa and Grace. I don't think he'll be typecast as just a 3rd down specialist.

The sad truth is Ambrister, Cornelius, Fentress, and Gaines are not Miami quality LBs. Perryman and EJ have proven they are, and it's TBD on Terry, Kirby, and Blue.

Those first 4 I listed are wasted ships. I'd like to see them replaced by Bond, Figueroa, and Grace. This defense needs a talent infusion in the front 7.

I don't know if I'd add Kirby or Terry to the TBD both looked really good as the season went on.

Armbrister shows a few flashes and Gaines has been okay to solid. Your right though we need an injection of top talent.

Kirby is going to be a ******* beast. He looks a lot like EJ did when he was first on the field, but Kirby has even better instincts. Never know but that kid looks like the real deal.

Been saying for months that Kirby is going to take that MLB slot. Great instincts and mind for the game. Seems like he would be ideal to make calls at the line and make checks. He'll probably be about 235. Long as Porter and Pierre can keep people off of him, he should wreak havoc next year.

Disagree with some of this. Gaines might not be a stand out but he's good enough to be on scholarship here, he was pretty good at the end of the year. In a perfect world he would be a RS Jr next year. It was Armbrister's 1st year playing LB this year and will only be a So next year so the jury is still out on him. Cornelius is meh. I don't believe Fentress is on scholarship.

Special teams guru, Kickoff, Punt Team... Hes a Rcih mans fentress

Or a poor man's Von Miller, which seems more likely. Kid is a beast linebacker. Move Denzel to Middle with EJ and Bond on the outside.

What about Kirby? I really like Denzel on the outside, such a playmaker.

Denzel is much better on the outside. Would think Gaines/Kirby will battle for the starting spot at MLB in 2013. I don't see Bond as an every down LB.

Agreed. Absolutely no reason to call out Gaines. He has more than earned his scholarship here. I swear some of you all think if the player is not an AA he does not belong. Off the top of your head name me 5 Bama players who will excel in the NFL.

Denzel was our starting Mike LB when the season started. As for Bond being an every down LB, watch the tape again.
Apparantly our coaches sure think highly of Bond as another site is saying Golden likens Bond to Clay Matthews.

From what is obvious on his tape, Bond is an instant help player, not a guy who is going to have to work out and learn for a year to be physically able to compete.
Remember a while back when Golden said we have to get away from playing 220lb lb's and get to where we roll out lb's who are 235-245lbs.
I think Golden is sick and tired of getting pushed around and wants the biggest, fastest, strongest and meanest team around.
Bond definitely fits that description as he certainly brings the pain.
I'd love to see us roll out Denzel at 235lbs, Bond at 240lbs and EJ at 240lbs as three starting linebackers all with speed and bad intentions.

Why are you guys so exicted about Bond I though he was only a two star recruit?

2 star recruit with 5 star tape.
Who cares about the stars, watch the tape and tell me you don't think the ability he has won't transfer to D1 football.

i miss that we don't have "the sarcasm on" epicon over here

i was making fun of the star whores not knocking Bond...i am glad he is a Cane!!

The funny thing about the star system is if you took Bond's name off the tape and instead inserted Matthew Thomas' name on the tape, everybody would watch it and go, 'Now that's a 5 Star linebacker!"
Same thing with Figueroa's tape, insert some 5 star lb's name on Fig's tape and people would have a 4 hour football hard on sans Viagra.

Denzel was our starting MLB but he was moved back to the position that he is more effective at. You don't take a difference maker on the outside and move him inside where he is just okay.

I would be shocked if Denzel is at MLB in 2013.

I think we'll see Denzel at weakside, Gaines in the middle and Eddie at strong side to start the year

He was not moved outside because he was more effective there, but because Buchanon got hurt again.
You guys forget that Denzel came to Miami as a middle line backer.
I'd rather have our best lb at the middle where he can go demolish people on both the weak and strong side. I may be wrong on this but when you have a guy like Denzel, you want him in the middle which is where you want your best lb.

I actually think we are going to see a lot more 3-4 next year which might not be a bad thing. Line up Pierre who was a DE, Porter and Chick and let them do their thing which seems to be engaging offensive linemen and then line up EJ, Denzel, Kirby/Gaines, Bond and let them attack the gaps downhill. We need to, at least, pressure the qb and not after 6 seconds, and you get your best players on the field to do that. If our best hit men are lb's then turn them loose.

That's how I see it if EJ is still on the team (please let him make it through the offseason). Kirby has a shot to push Gaines at MLB.

To buddha, your best LB isn't always your best MLB. Most believe Perryman's is most effective at the Will.

That's the problem with highlight tapes. I've looked at them for years, including back when they would sell the recruiting video. Almost everybody looked great on the highlight tapes. Some played great in college, some never did anything.

You never see the mistakes, errors, bone-headed plays on the tapes. You never see the bad reads, missed tackles, or where guys get blocked play after play. If you can get 10 % of a guy's plays that look great you can make him look like Mathew Thomas. With Thomas, it might be closer to 80 to 100% of his plays that are outstanding.

These days, I don't think our coaches get to see many players in person, especially out-of-state players. Thirty years ago, I think they were able to go to more games. I guess that's why camps have become so important. I know they are to Golden. Some guys you just know, I guess, like a Mathew Thomas, but there are so many other kids that you can make a better decision if you work with them for a few days in camp.
