How Do You Support The Miami Hurricanes

I'm in the nightclub business.

One of the places I work has a regular customer that always wore a UW or BC hat every time he came in. I gave him a U hat for xmas and told him if he ever comes in with a different team's hat on he was 86'd for life.

It's worked so far, he's even received compliments on the U hat!

That avatar is GOAT, I play that on the way down to every game, I swear my kids think it's bad luck if they don't hear it.

Thanks! He is reppin the U in that too LOL.

I have a sick *** mix I do of that song every single night I work. I also sneak in the 2001 Ballin Boy Hurricanes remix whenever I can.

graduated from UM, donation, hurricane club donation, season tix, away game trips, literally was the bookstores number 1 customer during my 4 years there

Just curious; how do you support the Miami Hurricanes? Hopefully this thread doesn't turn into a *****fest but I'm just curious how everyone supports their favorite team? Do you have season passes? Do you go to the games? Do you tailgate? Are you in the Hurricane Club? Do you cover yourself in green/orange glitter on game days? Do you The U on your car? Do you dress your kids up in Canes gear? Was your wedding cake in the shape of the Miami Orange Bowl? If you don't live close enough to go to the games, is there a certain way you always try to support the Canes? I live on the other side of the planet so I try to find ways to support the Canes in my own way so it would be interesting to hear how everyone does it.

I'm the tennis coach at my school here in Japan and I've taught my students how to do The U and when we take group photos we always flash The U now. They seemed OK with it until I showed a picture of Andy Murray flashing The U during one of his visits to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center for some training. Ever since then, they are more than eager to flash The U when we take pics. Just one example of how I spread The U. Very interested in what everyone else does.

Do you ever see these guys at the games?

At the 2009 champs bowl, the guy with the horns walked up to me and my lady and volunteered to take pics with us lol. Like he was some celebrity, I was like. " nah, I'm good"......but i pushed my girl over there and told him " she'd love one though".

Now I notice him every game on tv, he must be a pretty **** good fan.

Just curious, but how does the Miami community which didn't go to the university support the Hurricanes? Just curious. There are so many options and other teams in the city to root for, I wonder what percentage of the non alum are Canes fans.

Don't really know that, but I think that most of the Canes fans are non alums. It appears that there's a hard-core group of fans numbering a little over 20K. Understandably a much smaller group often travels to away games.

Insofar as other teams to root for that wasn't always the case. Some of us were fortunate enough to witness both the years of Dolphins excellence and also Canes dominance. For me, post Shula, it became painful to hold season's tix for both so I kept the Canes until moving away. Canes baseball has always been a wonderful way to spend a day, but I have only attended one basketball game (free pass).

Over the year's I've gone to great lengths to catch a game, live, tv, or online. At this moment I'm at the keyboard in my den that is painted orange and green (it works if you don't overdo the orange), the U is on the daybed and on the wall and my car sports a U on the front plate and a Canes tag on the rear. I'm wearing a green sweatshirt with a large U. My son has made the U well-known in a little farming community in western Illinois, every time he trades in his Ford pickup the U decals go with it so now there are several running around the county. My grandsons and grand daughter wear Canes gear, sadly they're just supporting a family tradition as they have not seen the reason behind it.

So it's a fact that Canes fans are everywhere and few of them actually attended the school. :neonu:

What I find sad but not at all surprising is that the harshest critics on here do absolutely nothing to help the school or program. And yet they constantly ***** and *****.

My grandfather was a University of Texas Alum and had a job in Miami in the late 1970's and had season tix to both the CANES and Dolphins. He brought me up on the CANES and he had season tickets up until Andrew destroyed their house in 1992. My grandparents moved to Dallas after Andrew and still supported Miami with donations and would travel to away games. My grandparents ended up moving back to Florida around the Tampa area in 2002 and my grandfather caught a few games here and there up until he passed away from complications of bone cancer.

I currently live in S.Carolina now and my wife and I are Hurricane Club members and catch a few away games every year. We plan on purchasing season tix this year and are planning a vacay to catch some games in Miami this year. My wife has never been to a CANES home game, and I haven't been to a CANES home game since the 1991 National Championship game in January 1992. Reason being is my dad (in his infinite wisdom) decided to move us to CANES football **** that is called Oklahoma, but it wasn't all bad cuz I met my wife and she is a converted diehard CANE now and is hooked on going to games.

Grew up a fan in Syracuse seeing them on tv and when they came to the dome. Didn't miss a home game for the 7 years i went to school and lived in Miami. Now that I live in NYC I go to at least one home game (still buy 2 season tix) and at least one away game. Donate money for my tickets and at the end of the year. Even have tattoo haha.

I'm a Cane to the grave and cant hide my feelings when people tell me they went to OSU, UF, or ND. Cant help but say I am sorry to hear that

Grew up in the west end zone. i like to say it made me a man lol. saw my first fight, first time witnessing 3 different illicit drugs being used, got into my first fight (started going to games at 5-why they put the family fun pack in the WEZ is beyond me). still a season ticket holder with my dad, doing into our25th year together coming up...
