How do we finish?

Missing out on Bogle and Steveson - strike 1 and strike 2
Cooney now in charge - strike 3
You will not sign a big time high school recruit - better concentrate on JUCO and GRADS

I posted in another thread about this, too. It’s insane we dropped Good, Howard, Brown, and Fuller. Then slow played or never offered Njoku, Saguinetti, Davis, Boateng, and Elam.
Total and complete failure from Richt! Lazy and clearly already had one foot out of the door. Manny looks like a hard worker and I don’t think he’d ever let something like this year’s class ever happen again. We flat out got out worked on the trail and that’s ok if you have a great season like last year but when you suck on the field you have to work that much harder on the trail. I see a lot of misguided desision making this past year.

This will not end well. Effects of this class felt for years to come on the field and recruiting trail.

Doubtful 2020 class is much better. Until drastic change is made Top 30-40 classes are Mismi's normal.
Dude just stop it! Look back at the rankings and we have consistently recruited at a top 15 level except for transition classes and that was with bum head coaches who continually couldn’t develope are talent even though those same recruits get drafted every year and blow up in the league. Stating the new norm for Miami is 30 to 40 crooting is just flat out dumb. I get your a world is crumbling fan but try seeing a little reality and facts and you’ll see that’s impossible. Look at 247 rankings the past 18 years and you’ll see we have been top 15 every year except transition years. Enough with your sky is falling negativity because it’s simply in correct and simply makes you look/sound like an idiot on here. Are you an idiot? If not, start talking/posting like someone with some common sense. Smh

Per 247 Martin Emerson is looking at taking a second official visit to Miami thanks to a new NCAA ruling which allows prospective student athletes to visit a school twice if a head coaching change has taken place. Looking at last weekend before National Signing Day

Even the most pessimistic side of me can't back this up.
We've had some pretty bad coaches here over the last 18 years.
I threw out our 8 best classes and we still average out to a 17th rank class in those other 10 years (per 247).

The double free trip. Well played, Mr. Emerson.

Dude, while I dig Manny's enthusiasm and Alpha Male mentality since being named HNIC, he himself is not a big time recruiter. He's not a closer like Sabag, Urban, etc. He'd better surround himself with top shelf recruiters with these hires, cause he can't compete with the big dogs yet and that's without bringing up our Achilles Heel, BAG$.

Ok.

You weren't super strong in math were you?

Yes, yes, yes. Your next post will claim you have have a behind the keyboard PhD from MIT in Applied Mathematics and of course your Differential Equations work has been published in several prestigious journals. Just last week, you consulted with Chairman Powell as to where the Fed is taking the US via monetary policy.

We get it, you are a big brain.

Um, wait. I've woken up now from my tequila fueled bender from last night, and have now returned to reality.

Here are facts (IF one considers ranking services as "facts")
- Last 5 years (more important than years 6-10 ago, Miami 2/5 classes were in top 30, 1/5 top 40
- 6-10 years ago, 4/5 classes were top 20 and 1/5 was top 40

Thats a significant reversal when you compare/contrast the two cohorts, and not in a good way.

As I stated previously, Miami is trending that Top 30/40 classes will be the norm AS THEY HAVE ALREADY BASICALLY BEEN last 5 years.

Can Manolo stop this trend? He can, but it will be very hard. If he fails, then MATH indicates continued Top 30/40 classes.

But of course, you knew this.

Well we aren’t winning without them. This is an absolutely retarded take on this, but I expect nothing more than spectrum caliber input from you on pretty much anything. So not even sure why I responded.

To be fair with Sanguinetti, he ran a 4.8 at 5'10" 165-170. You can't be short, small, and slow and be prioritized by many big time programs.

Who's Left? Looks something like:

Pray and Hope to God:
- MAR
- Martin Emerson
- Octavius Brothers
- Jared Harrison Hunte (do we still have a shot?)
- TJ Jones (with Dugans gone i have no idea where we stand. anyone know?)

Complete Longshots:
- Elam
- Darius Washington
- Charles Njoku (if we want him)
- Jaquaze Sorrells (do we even have a chance?)
- Renato Brown (no idea if we want or have a chance)
- Brieon Fuller (no idea if we want or have a chance)
- Josh Sanguinetti (wtf happened to this kid lol?)
You have to get 2-3 more WR’s. I’m all for getting Njoku, Jones, and maybe a transfer. Biggest needs now are DB’s, OL, and a QB. Then build depth at WR LB and DL.

Top recruits are off the board. We only have 15 signed up. Who is reasonable to expect to fill out this class?
Brothers
Jones
Anyone else?

80% of FBS recruits have already signed. So there is slim pickings out there. Possibly the new OC will bring in some offensive recruits from other parts of the nation. But man this is dismal right now. Four offensive recruits and only one more possible at this point. Even if Manny proves to be a great coach, this class is going to create some serious holes down the line. Tough to recover from these results.

How likely would Njoku be as a target?

247 sports rankings
Miami Hurricanes
2014 - 12
2015 - 27
2016 - 22
2017 - 12
2018 - 8

Averages out to a 16 ranked class. Should UM be better? Yes. Definitely not terrible and not in the 30’s in last five years.
