How Curtis Porter can change Al Golden's effectiveness

Porter's career numbers:

15 games played
24 tackles (12 solo)
4 TFL
0 sacks

He's the best kept secret in college football. Guy is going to crush people's skulls.

point very well made, however it is not his primary job to make the tackles in the system UM runs, so it is a bit misleading. the more important stat is the 15 games played altogether

I just want to make something clear: you will find no bigger CP fan than this guy here. My favorite player on the team to watch sans Duke.

Question for any that would know

Are any of the temple players AG got drafted doing anything in the pros?

Mo Wilkerson was rated as the 2nd best 3-4 DE next to JJ Watt last year in PFF. He's a beast, and better than all the typical Bama JAGs in the league.

I dont think there's any doubt he's the most pivotal player on this side of the ball, Porter. What Stephen Morris or Duke is to the offense, he is to the D.

He may not be Cortez Kennedy, but he's far and away UM's best interior lineman

I'll take 50% of Tez at this point.

Bump.

Pray to whatever it is you believe in. If you don't believe in anything, dance. Do whatever it takes.

I havent seen the interviews of today, other than the Golden QAM interview of this morning, but is Porter injured or significantly nicked up?

Good news: Curtis Porter (back) wearing black jersey at Tuesday morning practice

Hurricanes coach Al Golden put out a worry signal Monday during his press conference when he said starting senior defensive tackle Curtis Porter was dealing with back issues lately.

There might not be any reason to worry now.

Porter, who has missed more than a few games in his career with injuries, was wearing a black jersey (designated for starters) and looking healthy Tuesday morning during drills. The Hurricanes badly need Porter to be healthy. He makes a huge difference in the run defense when he's been in there.

> The battle for the starting job at strong side linebacker appears to be sophomore Thurston Armbrister's to lose at this point. He was wearing a black jersey Tuesday morning. Freshman Alex Figueroa, listed as a co-starter at strong side linebacker, was wearing green.

> Junior Jonathan Feliciano continues to run with the first team at right tackle. Seantrel Henderson was sitting behind Feliciano in stretching exercises.

> There were no players wearing yellow (non-contact) or red (out) jerseys.

I'm not usually a spiteful or bitter kinda guy, but man - F Manny and the Gang. F 'em right in the ear. Al Golden put out a "worry signal"??? No you tool, y'all created this artificial drama just to "debunk" it less than 24 hours later. That's crack journalism right there. Let's all just go back to searching for Julio Derosier's corpse under Marlins Stadium and leave the people who crave actual news in peace.

/Cathartic. I feel better now.

Miami’s run defense was among the worst in the nation last season, ranking 112th of 120 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. UM allowed 217.9 rushing yards per game in 2012.
Enter Porter, alongside fellow tackle Olsen Pierre, for the final four games — the last two of which Porter started (USF and Duke). Over their final three games, the Canes allowed an average of 133 rushing yards, which would have ranked them 28th in the nation.

Saw this today in the Herald.

Today, Perryman will get the credit for an incredible job of cleaning up. He couldn't have done that without Porter.

WE HELD UF's TOP TWO BACKS TO 73 yards on 28 carries: a 2.6 yard average per carry.

Love me a healthy porter. Renfrow is a great compliment to him btw. He pushed his man back when he was in.

This!! Any other year he would've been the best 3-4 DE. Only a record setting year by watt kept him below him. Big mo is the truth..
