Look at Arizona St and what they did to Arizona in a must win game.
The offense used their running back to curb stomp them. They ran him like no tomorrow.

We went up 21-0. Syracuse has to make adjustments right? Wrong. Syracuse didn’t even make adjustments. We DID! We decide to give carries to Lyle on multiple straight series and get cute with some play calls. We should have battered them with body blows with DM. We lost momentum. So frustrating to see Martinez only get 4 carries at half and 10 total. Had we used Martinez exclusively yesterday, we win by 14 plus guaranteed.

That’s on Dawson and all the fans who wanted us to pass like crazy to give Cam a chance at the Heisman. Dawson has no feel.

Honestly, Miami put up 21 points in the first half, and it could’ve easily been another 21 in the second half if George didn’t take that selfish and boneheaded penalty at the goal line. That was a killer.

The real problem, though, was the defense. We couldn’t get stops when it mattered, and once Syracuse got rolling, we had no answers. It felt like they were doing whatever they wanted out there. If the defense had managed just a couple of key stops, our offense was good enough to put up 50. This game was there for the taking, but we shot ourselves in the foot too many times.

I am talking about the schematics of special teams return blocking and kick coverages. A horrible special teams coach isn’t going to have Andy Borregales miss 40 yard field goals.

If Mario had any coaching acumen at halftime he would have gotten hold of Dawson and Merritt and told him Martinez doesn't come off the field in the 2 half and gets 20+ touches,at minimum.

Cam was slinging it early and they didn’t have a prayer to stop it. So obviously we decide to bring Lyle in and try to force the run game. Then when Martinez is gashing them, and the rest of our offense is stalling out, we don’t give him the ball.

There’s no rhyme or reason to Dawson’s play calling after the first quarter

It was criminal the use of Damien Martinez yesterday.

We paid him a lot of money for 10 carries in the biggest game of season, and he was clearly our best RB.

No reason Martinez should not have had at least 20 touches. Your defense sucks so bleed the clock. They were not stopping the run.

What it appears to me is that Dawson does a good job of scripting plays at the beginning of the game.
But any coach worth his salt will keep doing what is working until the defense makes an adjustment and then you make a counter adjustment.

That simply doesn’t happen. We start the adjustment game ourselves on offense. Which is crazy since on the other side of the ball, we have a coach that makes no adjustments in-game.

As I said, Dawson doesn’t have the right feel to be a national champion coordinator. And with the best QB in the country he wasnt able to get this team into the conference championship game in a 2nd rate conference.

I’m not saying we need to fire Dawson, yet. We have to get rid of Guidry stat and that should be the priority. Just need to know what we see is what we get with Dawson.

Serious question - who makes the calls on the rotations on both sides of the ball? Do they chart it out ahead of time and stick to it, or does position coaches have input or is it all coordinator?

That should determine who should go as well.

On the first 3 series, he got 4 carries. Last carry was 21 yards late in the 1st qtr. He was ready to go full on beast mode.

He did not get another carry until midway through the 3rd quarter.
