Look at Arizona St and what they did to Arizona in a must win game.
The offense used their running back to curb stomp them. They ran him like no tomorrow.

We went up 21-0. Syracuse has to make adjustments right? Wrong. Syracuse didn’t even make adjustments. We DID! We decide to give carries to Lyle on multiple straight series and get cute with some play calls. We should have battered them with body blows with DM. We lost momentum. So frustrating to see Martinez only get 4 carries at half and 10 total. Had we used Martinez exclusively yesterday, we win by 14 plus guaranteed.

That’s on Dawson and all the fans who wanted us to pass like crazy to give Cam a chance at the Heisman. Dawson has no feel.

We should have pounded the ball all game and snapped the ball with 5 seconds or less on every snap just like Georgia Tech did to us. The entire goal should have been to limit their offense but no we chose to go pedal to the metal instead.

Between that and kicking that FG late in the game tells us that Mario didn’t think the defense was a liability. The mentality was “just do what we’ve done all year and it’ll work itself out”

I heard all week on here Lyle needs Martinez carries in first half, lmaoo..

That Lyle, Mccormmick, Brown three and out sequence is forever burned in my mind.. Im like why is Lyle in the game, their offense has juice, this is NOT the time to give participation reps..

Cam Passing is what got us 21-0 so dont get that issue, at end of 1st George had 100 yards.. We should of kept our FOOT ON GAS. We tried to be balanced and get guys in, Bell should have played less, this was not his game, when I saw even Maugoia and our DE covering their best player #1 isolated.. I knew we dont even have gameplan on defense, offense cant waste a series.. This was game we had to tell youngin just cheer the lead dawgs on..

I see the 2nd qtr lull starts because we start trying to get other guys reps. We go up 21-0 to start 2nd qtr, they score to make it 21-7 and instead of locking in and sticking with gameplan, we decide 2nd qtr to bring out Lyle and get him touches, 3 and out punt after lyle, mccormmick, brown sequence then 21-14. We bring lyle back out and we dont do anything again til tied up and 3rd qtr. Martinez gets no touches in 2nd and we wonder why we struggle.

Nailed it, should have continued to run the ball up 21 and keep McCord off the field everyone knew we couldn’t stop them. Inexcusable
We got the lead because Cam and passing was cooking, we stopped to get Lyle touches in 2nd qtr like many on here said this week.. George had 100 yards in FIRST QTR.

Cam was slinging it early and they didn’t have a prayer to stop it. So obviously we decide to bring Lyle in and try to force the run game. Then when Martinez is gashing them, and the rest of our offense is stalling out, we don’t give him the ball.

There’s no rhyme or reason to Dawson’s play calling after the first quarter

FACTS.

You can see play by play below, 1st qtr we are cooking. Cam is on and George has 100 yards already. We score leading into 2nd qtr 21-0. They score and its like we have a cushion but we cant mess around, LET CAM COOK. 2nd qtr drives start and we go Lyle, Mccormick, brown three and out. :snoopfacepalm: ..

Then we startt punting more times than we have all season in 2nd qtr to give lyle touches.. MY GAWD.. We blow season to get Lyle reps, I am not blaming Lyle but the thought process of season on line, THIS IS WHY YOU ROTATE DURING SEASON TO RIDE YOUR HORSES IN THE POST SEASON MONEY GAMES, THIS WAS MUST WIN FOR US. I saw multiple backs this weekend have 30+ touches, we paid Martinez ALOT of money and he was getting lathered up. He ran the ball 10 times.

Let me correct you... "Mario doesn't think"... period.

Might be an unpopular take but, Dawson has hit his ceiling here and Guidry is a lost case. Both our coordinators and HC are in above their head.
Just clueless decision making.. 2 seasons worth of work has shown.

I mean he had the #1 offense in the country. That’s everybody’s ceiling.

But I get what you’re saying. He’ll never have another Cam to bail him out as often as Cam did.

Is anyone else frustrated fletcher gets as many carries as he does?

I mean at least once a game this year he’s ran slap into the back of his oline 4 yards down the field. Zero vision

I've said it before but the defense did what we expected (gave up 35 points to Syracuse).

The offense only scoring 38 was more disappointing. Especially since they also GAVE UP 7 points.

The offense scored 21 points in the first 17 minutes..then 17 points the next 43 minutes while also giving up 7 points. So the offense only netted 10 points in the last 43 minutes of the game.

Everybody knew going on the defense was going to give up yards and points. They had a takeaway and a few forced punts and gave up 35 points..yes that all sucks and isn't ok but it's what we expected.

The offense is the unit that didn't perform to expectations yesterday. We needed 50+ against Duke and Louisville to win.
