Holding on Martinez' 60 yard run

Yes a bad call, but on the other side, the "Cuse TD called back due to illegal formation, was a lucky break, but a real head scratcher.

It was absolutely an illegal formation. Perhaps it was a lucky break, but it was still a valid penalty.

The holding penalty was not. Particularly when the SAME EXACT REFS in the SAME EXACT GAME can't spot an offensive holding penalty when Miami is on defense.

We need the name of the guy who made this call, don’t want him on Canes games next year.

I have not been wanting to bring it up. I know people will say, "we should never have put ourselves in that position". We bore witness to some ****** officiating this year. Especially after our first 4 games. I have not watched a season this closely in a while and we got robbed more than rewarded. We definitely had shaky calls go our way; far less than the inverse. CFB anti-ACC or anti-Miami agendas kill us. The sketchy calls in the last 2 games were egregious but, we still should have won. **** sucks. On to 2025.

We had 3 TD's taken off the board this year by BS offensive PI. The other teams are allowed to do the exact same things on rub routes, but not called once that I remember.

We had an amazing TD to Horton wiped off the board by a horrendous holding call on Bell. The referee literally awarded a DE for doing a stupid spin move and getting stuck at the 180 point. You just can't make that up.

And then the Martinez call. It absolutely changed the game. That was a game that as long as we kept the lead or had the ball when it was tied we were going to win. That one call flipped the script. I am absolutely sick of points being taken off the board by phantom calls. The Syracuse game was the first game in the whole season that an actual TD was removed by a penalty for the other team. And as pointed out it was not a phantom call. We had 4 TD's wiped out by phantom calls. We will never win this conference unless we totally dominate every game.

Pretty sure this was the only holding call against us on a run play with our starting OL (+1 in this case cause Bell was in), and it was bull****.

Horton got a hold called against him late in the VTech game late when #6 bounced it outside, but I don't remember our starting OL ever getting called for holding.

did the same thing against cal. Luckily we scored from far out the next play. Unfortunately we couldn't repeat it against syracuse.

I felt the same way. We hit them in the mouth, they countered, and we were in a back and forth game by the second half. Instead of being in scoring range, after this holding call we got backed up 10 yards and eventually punted, "lost serve", they scored next, and we never had the lead again. Sure a lot happened after this, but we lost our plus advantage.

One of the biggest crimes, was Dawson not running more. Take away Cam's scrambles, and we ran the ball 27 times for 135 yards. That's without the 60 yard run called back which would have made it 28 for 195.
Was at the game, this is the one game I thought we should’ve ran a lot more of for no other reason than to keep the defense off the field.

Thing that gets me is we can't get the benefit of doubt on calls like this, but when our D lineman get dang near tackled, nothing. F this conference and their dirty a$$ refs
