The best thing we can do for recruiting right now is to beat the **** out of WVu

Won't matter much to the guys who are really considering us but it would lead to some sale pitches at the All Star games

It sets us up down the road and proves we have quality coaching in place. We haven't won a bowl game since 2006. It'd be nice to get that out of the way and show the program's gaining positive momentum. Also, Richt getting to 9 wins would be significant as well in year 1. That helps with recruiting as well.

I won't deem a recruiting class a failure but it would be pretty disappointing

Corey Knowles from State of the U just CB Herbert to Turds? Does this guy typically know anything?

you didn't do it to Golden, I'm sure you'll stay true to form with Richt

I've been voicing my criticism about our recruiting right now a lot lately on this board, not sure where that's coming from

There's some concern there for me as well given that we can't get an elite receiver this cycle to come in where there's obvious playing time to be had as well as a freshmen who just got all-american honors in this system. Kids should be lining up to play at Miami right now given our depth.

As it relates to Rumph, his recruiting is coming into question as well. And I don't want to hear anything about Rumph shouldn't have an effect on Heritage's kids recruitment as he wouldn't be their position coach. Baez doesn't seem to be having a problem with that given that he's 4 for 4 (Mullins, Jackson, Wright, and now Burns) and he works in the office for recruiting. Rump lost out on McFadden and Burns last cycle, as well as Wilson (whom I'm not that high on) and looking at Herbert, he may be leaning towards Florida since he's announcing the day after his OV with them. If he gets Slaton I'm good, but if he strikes out on both AH offensive lineman, then I'm ****ed.

If we don't land Tyson Campbell, Rumph needs to be shown the door. Don't care who else we land, Campbell shouldn't even be a contest for Rumph.

And keep in mind, I'm a Rumph fan. He's done a great job with the secondary, but recruiting is a part of a College Coach's job responsibilities, too, and Rumph is getting worked.

Agreed. You can only do so much if you're not getting the guys on your board. Rumph's a good coach, but it says a lot that Banda is pulling in the higher rated guys and Rumph can't even get kids from the HS that he coached at. I don't want to hear crap about him not having a lengthy resume, because Banda as a position coach doesn't have one. And Baez has more recruiting success and he's not even allowed to recruit because he's not a position coach.

My thing with rumph is that he showed he can coach this year. He also has Trajan bandy and deejay dallas coming in to play cornerback and as of now a flip of jhavontae dean from bama to Miami seems to be happening soon. And that's adding to redwine and malek young who have played a lot this year. Make no mistake about it, it would be a disappointment if we don't land Herbert and slaton but I don't think that is all on rumph though. There is an elite cb class in south Florida next year so taking 3 at that spot this year is kind of ideal. We might take 4-5 corner backs next year with Campbell who is very close with rumph, blades, Ivey and others. If surtain somehow decides he want to stay in state at this point it most likely will be Miami considering he has visited UM 3-4 games at hard rock stadium

Now on another point wide receiver recruiting is certainly a head scratcher. This is the biggest concern so far and it's not even close compared to db recruiting imo.We been missing on a lot of targets at the spot since dugans got here. If he pulls a shocker and lands devonta smith then all is good but with the way our recruiting has gone since the season has ended besides having dj Johnson and navaughn Donaldson reiterating their commitment and devotion to Miami it's been pretty bad on the trail in other areas. I don't know what will happen from now to signing day but it's clear we need to improve our recruiting. Even golden lucked out a few surprises including Tracy howard, McCord, Muhammad and Stacy coley picking Miami down the stretch

Yeah I'm not panicking yet given we're in the dead period. Let's see what happens when Richt can go in these kids' living room compared to ol' yellow teeth. But UF's such a dumpster fire. I'll voice my opinion come NSD when these guys are signed and are in.

It helped baez that the gulliver dudes already liked miami.

And if we get them both and Campbell next year, we'll be sitting a lot better for other future American Heritage players....

Herbert and Slaton take this class to the next level.

so you're more critical of Richt than you were of Golden.... got it. Still true to your first true love

I think they both go together. And I don't see how any offensive lineman wants to play for UF.

They aren't a package deal, and Herbert is definetly leaning Florida

Where did you hear Herbert is leaning gators? Haven't seen that reported anywhere

It's not a report, it's common knowledge just like Henderson. Herbert has always held Florida over Miami, he's all UF right now.

How is that common knowledge? Because a gator reporter said it?

Its just factual, Herbert and Henderson have always been Gators, its just a loyalty thing. Besides, Gators are really squaring up for this upcoming season since a lot of unsure recruits are leaning Gators.
