As much as it would suck to not land anyone from AH, that's not what Rumph is here for. He's here to coach CBs, as long as he can do that and hold the players to the UM standard, I'm fine. With that said, I do believe we close on Slaton.
Rum is here to recruit too. You don't hire a guy to specifically coach CBs and not expect him to recruit big too. On top of that, a HS coach who can't deliver his own players is unprecedented and an absolute abomination and a crime against humanity.
I really don't understand how people can't grasp this concept. Look at what Kool does - coaches his units to an elite level and pulls in studs all at once. Not expecting Rumph to go out and snag 5-stars from all over the country. But to at least get players from your old school would be nice and I don't think it's asking too much.
The difference being that Kool has been coaching the Dline in college since 1996. He's got a track record of putting guys in the NFL.
Rumph is in his first year as a college coach. Yes he was a successful High School Coach, yes he was a 1st round pick in the NFL, but that only gets your foot in the door with these
divas. We know he can coach technique - he's got to learn how to recruit on the job.
