Head Coach Candidates

Will Wade should be the top choice. If not for a FBI wiretap he still would be at LSU, and even on the wiretap all they got him was he made a strong *** over and talking numbers which is all legal now.

As for how it ended at LSU a lot of that had to do with the changing of the AD, the previous AD and administration were playing hard ball with the NCAA but when that AD was canned for new guy, Wade was basically sacrificed for the football team (Odell giving out 100’s after the ‘19 NC, the Hospital foundation executive stealing $$ to give to recruits etc).

Bill Self had more NCAA charges against him but Kansas stuck with him against the NCAA and only got 4 game suspension lol. Kansas gave basically a lifetime contract after the 22 championship.

Interesting times to need a head coach for your basketball team. Currently, Virginia, Miami, Florida State and Indiana will need a head coach with more openings to come in another month and a half.
Honestly, there are only a few good choices available and they will go where they feel is the best for along with the highest bidder.
If you don't get the guy you want, the danger then becomes taking a rethread as if he will become something that he has proven he is not.
The rethread will win the press conference and some headlines but you will not be as successful as you want to be when you hired him.
This is the dangerous spot Miami is in.
Miami has the location, conference and enough talent within the state to start small then become a successful basketball program.
However, rethread will not help you get there.
Who is a RETHREAD?
Guys like Andy Kennedy, Richard Pitino, Tom Cream, Josh Pastner, Chris Mack immediately come to mind.
With all due respect, they are good coaches but if you want your program to consistently win 20+ games and make the NCAA tournament every year, these guys have a proven track record that says they cannot do it.
Personally, I would rather hire an assistant coach with no head coaching experience but has been on the staff (and been instrumental in recruiting and player development) that has accomplished what I want to see my program become instead of hiring a rethread knowing he will never be what I desired yet I have to watch 5 years of regret because I knew when I hired him, he will never lead my program to what I truly wanted. But I hired him to win the press conference to sell my fanbase something!!! Something I don't know.
The next basketball coach is about winning games and championships but not about winning the press conference and off-season headlines.

It's truly incredible how much of a moron you are

Agree with a lot here, except for 2 things. First, there are a bunch of good college coaches and not all are at the high major level. If we find ourselves not being able to get one of the top picks (Wade, Jans, etc.) being mentioned here then we should be looking at experience coaches with winning track records from the mid-major level. Secondly, instead of going after unproven assistant coaches, I'd like to see us go after more qualified HC's who may not have the big names but have proven they can recuit, coach and win. Guys like Bucky McMillan (Samford), Chris Mack (Charleston), and Bryce Drew (Grand Canyon) are coaches we should be considering instead of the unproven variety.

Calhoun is interesting. Utah State has been a cradle of coaches the past several years (Danny Sprinkle, Ryan Odom, Craig Smith) but he completely turned Youngstown St. around and has good assistant experience at WVU under Bob Huggins.

Even the "reaches" with regards to where a coach is and where we are are still worth asking.

Our potential is there and if a coach is slightly older living in Florida on the back half of your career could definitely make you think "Ok I have one more rebuild in me"

Shoot your shot on any and everyone.

This is the stuff that I find hilarious.
Big time winner with Big time integrity.
I apologize but remind me again how many championships he has won!
I want to know what all the Buzz is about! 😂

Buzz is a darn good coach… but not a great coach. IU has all the basketball support and resources in the world and somehow can’t seem to figure out the difference between a meh coach, a good coach and a great coach.

Since they have Big 10 money as a basketball school, Indiana should pay Dusty May whatever it takes. Thats a big boy move. But Buzz will keep them relevant and regularly in the second weekend of March.

Hire him to do what exactly?
'
"Miami Guy Bro". That's all that matters. Now, don't get me wrong, Jack was a great player, he's an even better person, I've been fortunate enough to cross paths with him numerous times over the years. That said, poorly defined jobs for program legends is a no from me. If you want Jack to serve in an ops role, a role with legit teeth, or he wants to start his coaching journey, I'm with it. That said, is Jack interested in that kind of grind, when his mind has always been more on the business side? I could see him working in the AD in a business advisory role, learning from Rad and staff, and eventually working his way into an admin position.
