Hartley and Searels in West Virginia

Someone mentioned this prior — but I never expected Searles to do well on the trail. Thought it’d be the opposites between searles and coach Kool. I see searles and he looks intimidating as **** & dead serious

As intimidating as Searels looks, he's actually pretty funny. He's got some of that old southern ball coach humor. I've seen him at the Paradise camp and a coaching clinic they had down there. I could definitely see him getting parents to laugh and whatnot. I've never really heard Kul though.

We ever pull anybody from Wild and Wonderful West Virginia? Did we have any chance with Randy Moss (even with Notre Dame as his then "dream" school)?

Absolutely! Not recently though.

Not quite a tradition of OL's, but we've gotten a few. In the '70's, we had Dennis Harrah, an A-A and I think a 1st rd. choice for the L.A. Rams. Started for the Rams for years.

In the early '80's, we had John Canei, whom we thought might be another Harrah. Did not turn out to be the case, but he was a good player for us. In the mid-80's, we took John's brother, Rob, from W. Va, but he never played. In recent years. As we stopped recruiting the coal belt, our staple for many years, I think we concentrated on other areas. Just as we de-emphasized Pennsylvania and northern Ohio,

In the early '60's, we took guys from Weirton and Wheeling.

Part of the liberal anti coal agenda.
