Guidry - question

The UF performance without Bain was super impressive. The last 2 have been borderline pathetic. I have no problem making teams do 12-20 play drives because they usually will make a mistake. The monster, chunk play drives are killers and putting our offense in horrible spots. I still have faith in Guidry but man this bye week could not have come at a better time. We need to get healthy, teach, mix in youth, and get a head of our opponents. Louisville will be another tough test.

The roots of both VT and Cal success are Brohm/UL, and that will continue until Guidry sells out some to take those away and forces them to try something else.

Our back 7 has serious deficiencies, but giving up 3 50 yard plus plays in the first 3 series, two of which were TDs is inexcusable. Really bad teams don't even do that. It's on him.

and thats whats bothering me the most right now. I watched a lot of ACC football and in the last 2 weeks were playing the worst defense in the whole conference. Even UNC has improved on D since that James Madison game. FSU been pretty bad too lol Dabo helped out their stats.

We miss our two safeties this year more than I thought we would. They had there own warts but what we are seeing. They will improve along with backups improving and possibly creating competition we don’t currently have.

Facts!! Turns out we also miss Jaden Davis and Te'cory Couch too. Its a massive dropoff from those guys

Guildry gameplan is not bad he just does not have the backend talent for it. If the front four can create pressure it helps the cover for the backend. Teams are getting ahead of the sticks by getting 3-5 yards on first down. Playbook if wide open when you essentially have two to three chances to get 5-7 yards for a first. 2nd half adjustments have pretty much been "win first down". This defense is at it strength when the offense is in 2nd and 3rd and long.
We may not have Ohio State talent, but it isn't as bad as what we have shown. We have given up 50+ plays on screens, toss pitches, passes to the flats to running backs. Folks are not holding the ball because of our D.L, but good grief. Also, it looks like we have a hard time lining up, and half the time we are already beaten before the play starts. Just simplify stuff, line up correctly and tackle, and things will be just fine.

well Harris and Hill recently just earned sitting on the bench and to watch others get a chance. Period.
interesting that every time they put Markeith in at safety he seems to make plays. Now he maybe ******** up in other ways, but at least plays are being made.

Seems our best game was Florida, and they are showing some life. We actually gotten worst, starting with tackling.

So your solution - for a top 6 team at the moment - is a youth movement?
I don't think I would use that term but whatever you call it, I don't think it's nearly as stupid as you make it sound.

It's more like....Your solution for a very flawed top 6 team with a dreadful secondary is to slowly introduce young yet more talented players into that secondary in order to give us more speed, athleticism and overall talent in an attempt to shore up the team's biggest weakness?

After we played Florida, guidry went on the record saying Florida ran exactly what they expected based on film. And didn't switch it up. He then said in another interview that teams scheme for you and then go back to film if it's not working.

I understand we've had many missed tackles and lapses, but it seems VT and cal both focused more on what they saw on tape and tailoring things. Obviously they got up before half and never needed to go back on their strategy.

Are we preparing for what we see them do in past weeks and aren't self scouting enough on d? Because guidry can **** sure fix it at half time, which leads me to believe the original plan wasn't perfect.

I've watched countless hours of our offensive tape this year and haven't focused on d. You tell me?
VT was mostly a tackling issue, and the offense setting up VT on a platter with our turnovers. VT was by far a player issue.

Cal was tackling, diagnosing, scheme, and everything else you can think of. Everyone was responsible, and Guidry was part of that, obviously.

We just have to fix the basic ****, he has to emphasize not losing the edge of the defense, teams have found ways to exploit the rules of his defense.

Besides a couple of plays i cant say our struggles are talent its coaching and players making simple mistakes.

That cal offense hasn’t been good and they scored 31 on us, and had a bunch of chunk plays we gotta do some serious fixing for the offenses we face in the 2nd half of our schedule

I’d like to see more 4 man rushes to help coverage.
I agree but we really should not have to with our talent against our schedule. But you still have to do what you need to to get to the QB.

All it took in the second half was a little pressure on the QB and all his passes started going into the ground.
